These time zone differences are going to kill me. Whenever I want to debate, I have to wait until practically midnight! Hey, elmo. Hmmmm, I didn’t know you were asian. I naturally assumed everybody was white but me and mls, and i’m guessing that if mls hadn’t said anything, I would have assumed she was white as well. I wonder what this reveals about my character…does this showcase my racism to the world? or do I just have a low-production imagination where little thought is put into details?

^^seriously? i think i mentioned about 100 pages back when we were discussing AA.

and btw. i’d say about your character - both. lol :)

tomorrow, i’ll be able to get around 3:00 (6:00 ur time)

mebbe now is a good time to know each other better…

id say it would have to do with what you were raised to believe. not necessarily racism but ancient ingrained belief that good qualities came with white skin.
it would be dismaying if it was imagination though, cuz i thought the same thing for all of you up til you said otherwise. it was just a default somehow.

It wouldn’t surprise me if i subconsciously associated whites with intelligence.
A large majority of the kids that are in my A.P. classes are white. I wonder why?
That reads sarcastic, but I’m actually serious, is there a reason that this status quo has occurred at my school?

^^almost everyone in all my AP and hard classes are white. then again, almost everyone in my school is white anyways.
perhaps we associate white with intelligence because so many prominent examples are white - president (ok, that negates the intelligence part lol), angels in paintings, illustrated people in books, etc. heck, the hub of leadership in our country is the white house. you’ve never heard of a black house, have you?

???
The kids in the AP classes at my school are disproportionately Asian. And female.

Well, then, it’s up to us future TASPers to change America’s notions of intelligence correlating with skin color!

Does Michigan have a large Asian population?

might be about the percentages of minorities in your school. could be the area it is in. type of school. could say something about society.

honestly my ap classes are pretty diverse. cept my ap us history class.

Whoo, I got to wake up in six hours for school. Bye everybody, i’ll check on tomorrow.

in my anatomy class, there’s 15 girls and 4 guys. lucky us. :). there’s not a lot of asians where i live. perhaps more on the other side of the state.

and to change america’s notion would take alot of work. we live in a society where great chunks of history were ruled by the actions of white people. and the fantastic history of other regions are often downplayed or sprinkled with acts of imperialism. in america alone great actions for equality happened only 5-6 decades ago. a finger snap in history.

wow elmo that is so slanted.

for some odd reason, my physics class is more balanced. 4 guys to 7 girls. For Future Problem solvers (a club), there are ABSOLUTELY NO GUYS, except for the little kids. that’s cuz all the males (including me) can’t stand the obnoxious coach.

what kind of club is it, cuz that is quite a title. and are you saying women are more tolerant? making a consession??? lol

How do you have a class with 11 kids?! My smallest class has 15…most have about 20 to 30 kids. My most lopsided class was probably Chemistry last year–18 girls and 8 boys (half the boys dropped at semester too)…

My school has a relatively high Asian population (about 10%, maybe) but the rates enrolled AP classes is ridiculously high; about 1/3-1/2 are Asian. On the flipside, we have the same percentage of black kids at our school, and I can only think of two black kids in all my AP classes combined. It must be a cultural/parental pressure thing (take AP physics or you won’t get into Harvard!)

Today was f-ing freezing…

Even if I wasn’t on break and did have school tomorrow…it would be a snow day (which is such a sad waste). The weather today was awful–blizzards, icy roads, and zero visibility…The weather is a perpetual topic of discussion/complaint where I live.

At least we didn’t have it as bad as Minnesota, haha.

they pretty much sit around, using a VERY SPECIFIC guideline to brainstorm ideas to solve a scenario. you have to like identify possible setbacks, repercussions, etc.

no, the coach is a woman. girls are more tolerant of the obnoxious teacher (perhaps because their own obnoxiousness <— is that a word? allows them to accept it more readily :)) and less blunt sometimes than boys. two of the boys simply said “this is bull****, you are an awful teacher. no wonder only kindergarten kids can stand you” and walked out

::shakes fist::
ill catch you yet elmo.lol. and fridge michigan sounds depressing right around now, and WOW only two? my ap physics class has like 11 out of 20. and there arent that many asians in my school as a whole i think. or maybe im not counting right. ive reached a point where i really have to think about someone’s ethnicity. i think that is progress.

and wow elmo those are some angry words.lol. and i think that is an insult to kindergardeners. i find that, when not eating dirt or drawing pictures that dont look ANYTHING like the things they claim they are ( i swear little kids do that just to screw with people), they are pretty honest.

girls are more obnoxious…how typical of the male half of the species…

Michigan is officially depressing year-round. Economic recession + bad weather + school-related stress = no fun at all for wink. Sadly, CC is kind of my escape/procrastination defense mechanism. That, and charting out my favorite military formations (such fun!)

I’m sure Florida is much nicer.

Have you ever played a game called “Tower Defense”? It’s ridiculously addictive.

honest? trust me, i have one as a little sister (well almost, kindergarten, preschool, what’s the diff?). she’s lies like it’s nobody’s business.

lol. and her pictures actually resemble things.
