You are totally a Darwinist , aren’t you?

No need for apologizing, but I’m absolutely positive I’d be scared to death of you if I meet you in person. (:

ahh that explains it. what do you do lincoln douglas?

“Lincoln Douglas” ?

Nah; I’m Dramatic Interpretation, but we have 2 Public Forum debaters on our team that would bring Lincoln to his knees. One hits with facts and the other one hits by skillfully ignoring all the other team’s points in favor of his own. And yes, I’m a Darwinist; I rather enjoy thinking that our ancestors also threw s*** at each other, though physically then.

Hudson: Lincoln-Douglas debating is one-on-one. Public Forum is two-on-two.

how do yo do DI and are this freaking aggressive??
i feel like you’d throw a book at me in an argument.

I did a wikipedia search. (: Thanks though.

Hunted creatures in a forest of dragons learn a little magic of their own in time: mainly concerned with biting first and hiding wounds.

what?
i have no idea what that is supposed to mean.

“Hunted creatures in a forest of dragons learn a little magic of their own in time: mainly concerned with biting first and hiding wounds.”

I have absolutely no idea what this sentence means, but it’s awesome.

I stole it. The original is “Creatures in a unicorn’s forest learn a little magic of their own in time, mainly concerned with disappearing.” I wondered if any of you would recognize it. Mine broke the rhythm, but it was easier than giving a straight answer.

I meant that if you’re forced to battle, it’s better to bite your antagonizers first, and bite them hard. Even if you lose, you must act as though you’re winning. It throws them off the scent.

I never thought of you as the type of person to know anything about Unicorns or Dragons. (:

I don’t. I don’t respect much fantasy because most of it is all the same: an alternate universe, and dragons, and a quest, and an evil queen. I tolerate fantasy very selectively, but what good, meaningful fantasy there is I respect. It’s just that there is very little of it. Peter S. Beagle and Gregory Maguire are two of my favorites; they grasp the music to writing that is necessary for good fantasy.

Well, since I apparently killed everyone just in time for prime TASPing hour:

Does anyone know whether it’s possible for an acccepted person to miss a week of TASP? I’ve just got my nomination letter for Girls’ State, and if I got in after my interview, I’d be obliged to attend (the interviews are before the TASP ones). Obviously I’d rather go to TASP, but I might kill someone if I gave up Girls’ State for no reason.

I’d just email Ellen Baer. I’m sure you can get the address from the Telluride website. What’s Girls’ State?

Girls’ State is this one-week program about democracy and the government. Basically, the attendees build the government of a 51st state from scratch. Your school nominates you; it’s run by the American Legion Auxilary. Anyway, I’m not e-mailing anyone; I want to get into TASP, after all.
I just wondered if anyone knew of someone in a similar situation.

if it is the first week i know it is really discouraged, but yeah you would have to e-mail them, i dont think it would affect your chances cuz you havent made a decision yet.
also the right hand rule is the worst thing in the world.

…The physics right hand rule?

yes that one. it is evil. i like my left hand more now.hehe.

It’s not too bad, is it? I remember it as just point, bend and stick your thumb out.

hi everyone.
