Gotcha Tyler! Thanks!

Sartorialiste, I would vote no on the frequenting the thread for your own safety. It seems to be a death knell for TASP acceptance.

I expected as much, cira; I’m not trying to be self-deprecating or modest, I really cannot structure essays well. I haven’t reached the point yet were I can fully translate my ideas and thoughts to paper.
I don’t know, I don’t feel too bad now that I’ve got this solo trip to NZ or somewhere else in the works. Now, I just need to actually figure out WHERE I’m going to go. (:

I need a PB&J.

This is awful. :frowning:
I mean, I’m happy for all those who got interviews, but trust me, it won’t be the same without Earil, Hudson…or wink. ;)

Yeah, figuring out a plan B is not going to be too fun… Maybe I could au pair for my cousin again? Crap. I think I have to get a job now.

I’m just disappointed that I don’t get to meet you all. I really love everyone I’ve been talking to for the past month and a half and I’d really hoped to get to see you this summer…

I’m surprised by how accepting I am of rejection. Maybe I still have some threads of hope entwined with my heartstrings because I haven’t actually called to confirm my rejection. I’m really must have some mental health issues; I actually checked the postmarks on the mail today to see if there was any hope that a letter might arrive tomorrow. There were only two letters with postmarks on them (damn you nonprofit organizations!): one from Ohio postmarked March 4, and one from Ontario, postmarked February 29…

Maybe there is still some hope. It doesn’t look good, though.

Earil, are you looking into any other free summer programs?

I don’t actually know of any other free ones. I should probably google it, but I am currently distracting myself with lolcats and hot beverages.

I think I knew when I didn’t get anything in the mail today. I had a mini-catharsis earlier with my mom, and we laughed and cried and I felt a little better. I think I just need to spend this evening grieving about it and then I will bounce back to a near-normal state.

It’s a little known fact, but lolcats can cure sadness.

FAIL pics are great too. There’s a greater reservoir of lolcats though, better for eXtreme sadness.

looks into other summer programs Like, 75% of these are for minorities only. grumbles Do they automatically assume that all white people can afford those $5000 two week programs?

I know, right, cira? I mean, What does it matter my skin color as long as I want to enrich my brain?

Oh my God. My sister is playing a heavy metal/ screamo version of Soulja Boy. I do not need this today.

My mother’s crazy mother always said that we were part Native American… Considering how pale I am, I’m guessing it could only possibly be as much as 1/64th. Does that qualify me?

Why don’t you call her grandma? Then again, I don’t call my grandparents grandpa or grandma seeing as I never knew any of them.

She had Alzheimer’s and was in a nursing home since before I could really remember anything… The only thing I remember about visiting her was the funny smell of the nursing home and how she always had those strawberry hard candies with the green twisty tops and the yellow dots on the red part of the wrapper. She died a few years ago, and had been divorced from my grandpa for years. My grandpa’s girlfriend is the one I knew as my maternal grandmother…

I’m a lot closer to my paternal Grandma and Poppy. They only live half an hour away so I see them a lot.

Oh my God. My sister is playing a heavy metal/ screamo version of Soulja Boy. I do not need this today.

lol
i luv crank that cavalry boy
i set my friends on fire
lol

WoW. I don’t feel so bad about rejection anymore, in this company. Surrealness.

It kind of makes you wonder what your essays had to be like to get accepted. Porna sent me hers, but they were in a weird format and my computer couldn’t read them. I mean seriously, did they have to be Faulknerian? Were they all masterful, stunning prose, impeccable and impenetrable arguments, flawless, interesting and unique topics?

I have not gotten a letter yet, but I am assuming that I was rejected. I had poor essays (sadly, I wasn’t really enthusiastic about TASP when I was applying, and that was reflected in my essays. Analyzing a book is one of my weak points; my essay was on Freakonomics and was 3 short paragraphs), poor gpa/classes (3.78, only 3 APs), and a 170 on the PSAT. I know the latter two don’t matter as much as the essays, but I did botch them, after all. Oh well, hopefully LEAD, Oxbridge Scholarship, Questbridge Yale SS, Texas Tech, or Governor’s Honors Program comes through.

Congrats on the acceptances, guys.

I’m kind of curious to exchange essay’s now.

Anyone up for it? >_>

I’d be game, if you want an example of a ‘losing’ set. Seriously curious to see what it took to make it, you know?

I’d like to read yours, if you don’t mind.
