The internationals, at least, are probably okay for now. It took over a week for a letter from frickin’ /Ontario/, like 30 miles away from my house, to arrive… International mail is slow.

that is because it is still international. even if you were neighbors on the border, customs and all that IMO.

Alright, mls! TASS and TASP. Wow, you must have something that telluride can’t get enough of. (:

Don’t give up hope, wink. There’s always chance.

wink don’t be so pessimistic, and thanks for the help i sent them an email, im assuming that you guys are on the East of the US so it must be like 5-7 o clock there, anyway its 5 30 in the morning here and i need to finish some hw

We will see hudson, I still have to knock out the interview. The percentages are in my favor now though.

After several hundred pages of lurking (lol, it’s kind of awesome that I’m not exaggerating)…

Congrats dear lurker!

I’m sure this isn’t very comforting or anything because if I read what I’m about to post last year, I would have felt like there was no point to the post and resumed being depressed but here it goes:

Life is goes on, with or without TASP. I did not get into TASP last year after the interview round, and you know what? I’m still alive, and I’m not any less of a person without TASP. So basically, cheer up! It feels like the end of the world now, but really, in the end you’ll be fine. You’re all fantastic people and you’ll all accomplish great things :D

Haha. Yeah, there’s always the infinitesimal chance that it might have got lost in the mail or something. But I’ve given up. It’s too much to think about without developing an ulcer or neurosis. A lot of people who read my essays said they were certain that I would get a finalist letter; I guess it got to my head (because obviously nothing like that could be called certain) and I convinced myself that I deserved one…

Sigh. Tomorrow is doomsday. I’ll finally get to see REJECTION in print…

I feel like I being a bit melodramatic. I’m not depressed or anything, just disappointed.
What did you do during your summer Frizz?

While everybody is here, I thought I’d ask something: is National Honor Society really that great? According to my dad, it used to be an amazing achievement when he went to high school(in the late sixties), so for each of my siblings, he pushed them to join, but neither had the credentials to make it. Anyway, I do, but he isn’t really involved in my education so much as he was with them(third child, he kinda has a “been there, done that” approach to my life. It’s actually pretty nice), so I’m wondering if I should even bother trying to get in, and getting his hopes up, when all of my friends say it’s a BS club. I don’t know who to believe. Do any of you have any knowledge on the club?

sigh My dad just made me really depressed. He think that the world is going to end and that this pope is the last because of some saint’s predictions 400 years ago, and he might be the Anti-Christ or he might reunite the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches… I see where I get my conspiracy theorist side. I don’t think I actually believe him, but hearing that the world is going to end from a source that I personally trust and really respect is never fun. Maybe he’s trying to put TASP into perspective for me?

I guess it kind of depends on your local chapter. Is it something prestigious in your school? What kind of commitment would it take from you? I don’t know anything about it really…

It depends on your school. At my school, NHS is kind of a joke. Even though we have to go through an extensive application process (3.5 GPA, service hour requirements, recommendations, essay, etc.) you would have to be pretty stupid or extremely lacking in an area not to get in. And the hours requirement is only 24 hours per year…so yeah, the club doesn’t really do anything. I just go to the meetings for the food.

At my school it is somewhat serious. The membership is really high though so make of that what you will. I guess if your school’s branch does good things go for it. Like my school’s is really big on Relay for Life and all kinds of humanitarian stuff, so i was willing to look past the BS-ness.

You get food??? Lucky. We have to get 60 hours a year, but it is cumulative so it isn’t that bad.

I think I’m about to be suspended from NHS because I’ve missed two meetings in a row…shame on me. And “food” mostly consists of Chex Mix, funky store-bought cookies, and flat pop. But it’s OK. I live with it.

Earil, I’ve been speculating the decline of man for years now.
According to Pat Robertson, the Anti-Christ consists of Catholics, Methodists, and heathens. It’s a good thing I’m not a fundamentalist extremo…or I might actually believe him.

Haha, I’m gonna be @ Relay for Life. We could have a TASPunion.

What about CASP? ;)

We’re still accepting applications.

TASP rejects recieve priority weighting.

Yeah, mls. I have to get 60 hours as well. I think I’ll join just to get more for my college app.
At work yesterday, I had a lot of downtime, it is a nut stand after all, so I decided to make a list of everything I’ve ever done that i thought would make me stand out on my college app.

Needless to say, the list only covered a thin strip of paper. (:

my list disappoints me that way too. and which relay classik?

I got my letter today, the letters are postmarked March 3rd
