this year, according to telluride association, 1100. The rate this year is around 5.8%
@To taspers: I’m really jealous with past taspers. They had 500+ pages to discuss, and this is not exciting at all hah :(

I’m jealous too, but there is something to be said for obeying the rules. In the end, I think it will lead to a better TASP experience and isn’t that the entire point?

Idk, depends on the purpose of the rules I guess. I think the purpose of this rule was to prevent us from forming relationships before the TASP, ie, prevent us from being able to identify anyone from this forum outside of this forum. If we can’t identify each other, we basically didn’t meet anyway. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t identify anyone from this thread outside of this thread, and if you can identify me, you’re a creeper… :)

Same. Taspers, please don’t mention CC in the house. BTW, collegebound, which location will you be traveling to?

Michigan, and you?

Cornell :)

:) a bit of a walking distance, but if you happen to find yourself in the neighborhood…

I’m going to Michigan as well. :)

Yeah, I was trying to adhere to the “no pre-TASP communication” rule, but like belly said, as long as we make a solemn vow not to mention CC in the Telluride House, we should be okay…

T-minus 7 days!

So, I wonder who has the longest travel time? Mine is 4 hours. I think I may try to do my summer reading project on the plane. Of course, I always end up falling asleep :P

@CollegeBound32: I’m traveling about 6-7 hours, but by car, so I guess I have a longer TIME, but less distance.

I would tell you now, but I’m thinking of starting a 2012 thread on my experience of the whole thing after the actual TASP experience. That’ll be more convenient

What conference are you going to, Aes?

Honestly Cornell TASP procedure scares me hahah. It resembles Model UN’s

Belly, I’m going to Cornell II; what about you? Yeah, the Rules of Order are a little bit intimidating, but I love that Labor Quotes (out-of-context quotes from the past week) are part of the official Order of Business :)

@kalsdjfaowfjwaf: I don’t really feel qualified to answer your question yet. I’m thinking in August, the 2011 TASPers can start a thread discussing their experiences and answering questions, so I’ll get back to you on that in a couple of months…

Cornell II too! I’m confused about Labor Quotes as well. What is its purpose?

Well, my impression is that Labor Quotes are just sort of random - “out-of-context quotes” could range from the philosophical to the incredibly silly. I don’t really understand it, but for some reason, that was the thing that caught my eye when I was reading through the Rules of Order. “Out-of-context quotes” just sound fun :P

I wonder if it might be misused in a harmful way

The Rules of Order seem very daunting. O_o

I have to drive 5 hours, then catch two long connecting flights to Ithaca. So no complaining, people! ;)

9 hours of flying. Woo!

^ OoOoO wow. You from overseas? :)

I have a 4-hour flight, but I must leave at 3 AM in order to get there two hours before the plane leaves at 7 AM. Eek.
