Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

The name checks out. She’s an admissions counselor for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. At least the waiting is almost over….

And we’re going to spend the weekend mincing over her use of the word “some.”

Some = 20%?
Some = 80%?

Let the real stress commence.

Good information but that doesn’t sound very promising.

I’d like to know the exact question. Was it ‘my kid selected team/waitlist will they get a spot on team?’

Saw this posted on the PSA/PTA parent Facebook page. They are commenting on it. Texas A & M - Parents of PSA/PTA Students | Facebook

We can’t see the post since we are not members on the page.

It’s super quick and easy to join. I just did.

What are they saying in that post?

From that thread…this is the original poster there…

I just got off the phone with the admissions recruiter who emailed me. She called me to talk because emailing back-and-forth doesn’t really produce the best communication.

I will say she has been the only one who we have talked with who has been forthright and honest and kind. Everybody else gives boiler plate answers or they’re just outright rude.

She said a few things… And we all know this to be true… This admission cycle has been drastically different than years past. So the concept that you can get a Blinn team offer faster or more readily by having selected Blinn team only is not accurate and is operating from outdated information.

She said the applicants who got the three options need to think of it as having put their name into buckets. One bucket for waitlist, one bucket for Blinn team, or you could put your name in both buckets.

She said, from the top down the consensus in the messaging is that Texas A&M is trying to shrink the freshman class.

That the waitlist has a few spots on it, and it’s pretty dependent upon major

That Blinn team has more spots to offer, but not as many as the number of applicants who received the three options in January.

That they want all decisions out before spring break; that is the goal and they’re working very hard to make that happen.

This doesn’t really change any applicant’s situation who had the three options, but it is at least some up-to-date and slightly more transparent answers than I have gotten from anybody there in the past month.

Good thing we put housing deposits down on a back school. We are also planning on touring another backup, University of Arkansas for spring break.

So they didn’t know how many spots they had available before they sent the 3 Options?

I went to the Facebook group. It sounds like they were trying to wait for the auto admits to make decisions. I don’t think they knew how many. They send around 2,000 students the 3 options. They said 100’s of students didn’t reply to the 3 options.

I’m glad we will have decisions soon but I wish they didn’t drop the “some” word. Now I’ll be stressing over the weekend!

You know…I hate to be that guy…

But after deafening silence for months, this is an oddly specific treasure trove of information coming out all at once.

Not saying it’s inaccurate…but feels like a Friday evening leak.

If A&M wants to reduce the size of their freshman class, it’s probably time to go from top 10% to top 8% or up. It would give them a lot more wiggle room in holistic review.

I agree. Probably top 6% would make sense.

I wish I knew!

I feel like your kid should get admitted just based on these memes alone. :grin:
