No banner here in Austin. I remember one parent saying something along the lines of ‘I won’t believe it until she is sitting in the classroom.’ That’s how I’m feeling this morning!!
oh thanks for the heads up. I booked only one night thinking we will go the morning of Day 1 but that’s a good point, will book the night before NSC. Thanks!
Even if you live 45 minutes away…book 2 nights. Trust me.
Hwy 6 traffic & accidents are a total crapshoot. Plus parking on campus will be tough, and Day 1 starts early. You don’t want to be rushing.
Mays day 2 will have Mays Merch for sale (t-shirts, ball caps, stickers, etc). Buy it then, as it’s only offered a couple times a year, thru Business Student Council. And Mays will offer a very informative Parent session (not every major does); plan to attend, hang around Wehner.
Have you joined the original Mays Parent FB page? Super informative, zero drama, admitted to Mays parents only.
must answer ALL questions to join
Same over in Georgetown Hopefully today!
No banner in Katy TX yet!
banner came yesterday to Austin, but we are at Texas Tech doing a visit…sadly, he is VERY into it. Not looking good for my own vicarious Aggie hopes and dreams…
I am going through the same thing. My daughter can’t decide. We visited UArk during spring break and it’s a great option. So beautiful!
We toured Texas Tech too. Liked the campus but my daughter didn’t like the dry desert air and wind. We didn’t like the town either. I would tour the town and show your son what it’s like. College Station is a much better town in my opinion. We met someone from Lubbock on our Arkansas tour and they said the dirt in Lubbock kind of gets into everything and you practically breathe it in sometimes. Tech is a great school, but just trying to help you out!
It’s stressful because housing selection is starting and she needs to decide!
Our family is scattered all over West Texas. I rarely meet anyone who doesn’t love West Texas, once they’ve lived there. Yes, there are dust storms (which don’t happen that often), but the sunsets are amazing! It’s a slower pace of life, nicest people you’ll ever meet.
Lubbock and Fayetteville are polar opposite, as far as geographically speaking, and NW Arkansas definitely prettier. Both are incredible schools/campuses with lots to offer.
College Station won’t win any awards for beauty, and their weather is FAR more unpredictable than Lubbock.
We are in SW Austin- no banner yet
I can’t say enough about how wonderful the people are. He was drawn to how down to earth everyone is. Coming from an affluent private school it was very enticing to him.
He liked it so much we stayed two nights so he could go to a baseball game with his cousins and didn’t make it to BCS today like we had planned. Need another weekend to sell my alma mater!
The envelope has arrived!! Now it feels official!
@austinmomlv NICEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!!
I feel your pain, one of my kids wouldn’t even consider my alma mater (did apply/get accepted, but it was a courtesy only to me…). Her 4 years at A&M, despite being there during Covid, were easily her best years yet!
End of the day, you want your kid happy…and where THEY want to be.
If you could see through my computer, you would see me in a Texas Tech shirt that i bought while there. I 100% want him to make this decision and feel supported. He will have enough to resent me for… we don’t need to add this to the list!
This might be a good time to mention to all the new Moms to search for your local Aggie Moms Clubs. They’re a good way to support your Aggies and join in Mom fellowship! Member Clubs – The Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers' Clubs I’ve heard, but don’t know as a fact, that Aggie Moms are the only University to have organized clubs around the country.
Yes! My local Aggie Moms club has been amazing and I’m fortunate that they meet just down the road from me! We have a lot of fun.
@FriscoDad
I can’t seem to figure out how to pick fixed or variable rate. On the checklist it says to go to Howdy, Howdy checklist. We can’t find it. Am I missing something? I swear someone posted a picture of how to do this in the past, but cannot seem to search it up. Appreciate any advice.
Please follow below.
Incoming freshmen and transfer/re-admit students may change their selection until the 5th class day of their first term of enrollment. Go to My Dashboard in Howdy, select Overview, then the My Record tab. Then, under Academics, select Registration Readiness. This will lead to a page where you choose Action Items and Tuition Rate Code Selection. That is where the new student can make the change.
You are the best!! I knocked out three Action Items. So appreciate your help!
