Texas State's BFA musical theater student Annie Wallace brings down the house

I don’t know why Texas State University isn’t on this list… I think the program deserves a nod. Check out YouTube to see BFA musical theater student Annie Wallace as Silvia in Texas State University’s 2010 production of All Shook Up.

And there’s more where that came from…

When considering which program to attend, you would do yourself a disservice to look over Texas State University’s BFA program. Under the direction of Kaitlin Hopkins, this program has quickly made itself a front runner in race for best musical theater program in the nation.

Texas State is indeed on College Confidential’s Big List of MT College Programs here on the following thread (see post #2 for the most up to date listing):

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/musical-theater-major/801037-big-list-mt-colleges.html</a></p>

The “list” you are referring to must be the list of sub-forums on particular college programs at the top of the MT Forum. That is NOT a comprehensive listing of college MT programs whatsoever. The Big List I just linked to is a comprehensive list. The list of links at the top of this forum simply links to sub-forum discussions on particular programs as a way to organize and group existing threads about those college programs. TSU is a relatively newer program and there are not that many existing threads on the program. When there are enough of them, CC will likely group them in their own subforum. Meanwhile, anyone may use CC’s Search function to call up any existing thread discussions on TSU’s MT Program.

PS, to help anyone searching for the role mentioned in the OP’s post, the character name is Sylvia.

I think it sounds like a great program.

It has, though, and I’m quoting from a conversation with someone else who hit the nail on the head, become almost overnight one of the hardest to get into. I guess a lot of people want to come down here to the nice southern Texas winters. lol.

So remember when making out your own list, if TSU is on it - definitely NOT a safety. They do have an non auditioned BFA program called Performance and Production, as well as if I recall, a BA; and anyone can audition for roles: but the auditioned BFA and MT programs do have classes that are closed to anyone else, such as the dance classes with their amazing choreographer.

If my daughter had been ONE year older she could have gotten in before it became so tightly capped and auditioned, ~ we visited the school that summer, her junior year, in fact - and then she still would been attending under Kaitlyn’s transformation! Oh well!
