TFT Film Interview 2024

@kennybeckford1 well, it did seem too good to be true. Guess this is a soft rejection for me

@marietagbo reading threads from a few years ago, TFT apparently interviews more people than they can accept, so there are rejections

That’s really helpful!! Don’t be too worried, we won’t know for sure until decision date. My interview definitely isn’t a sign of acceptance so I’m in a similar boat

Difficult to see my son work so hard on his Alumni Scholarship essays all weekend only to learn here that, without the offer of a film interview, he’s seemingly out of the running. Oh well. Onward. Good luck to everyone who interviewed.

My DS just called TFT admissions to ask about interviews. He was told that only people who get interviews are being considered for admission to the FIlm program. He was also told that they are still reviewing applications so you could still be contacted for an interview.

Decisions are supposed to come out mid March, so wonder how much longer interviews could possibly be taking place…

Does anyone have any information on to when interviews will be completed by?

Does anyone know if interviews are also a thing if you’ve auditioned for the theater program? (Still in TFT) There was already an interview with part of that process. Or are the interviews you are talking about for a different major/program? My daughter also received the Alumni Scholarship invite, but does TFT and UCLA admissions “talk” to each other? Or is this from UCLA and then comes down to the audition…I know that there is a thought that the scholarship invite could be a good sign…but with an audition on top of it my daughter didn’t think much of it…thank you!

Just realized you said film…sorry! But if anyone has thoughts on the scholarship invite and also having an audition/interview with their program…seems like the program and the school may not necessarily talk when those invites are sent out…

Also — keep in mind everyone who applied to UCLA received an invite for the Alumni scholarship — it’s no indication of admission or potential admission

Ok, thank you @marietagbo - I’ve seen in other places not everyone received it and could be a good sign…I guess we will find out soon enough!

@COmama24 @marietagbo That is incorrect. Alumni scholarship invitations are sent to selected applicants, not all of them. There is a historical 60% correlation of eventually getting accepted with the invite. TFT, Engineering, Nursing, and Arts and Architecture have a lower correlation due to further review. The initial invite is tied to the initial read by undergrad admissions which happens prior to any review by the professional schools.

Thank you @10s4life - that makes sense. My daughter flew out for the audition and thought it went really well. All of these “clues” are enough to drive you crazy! LOL

When do interviews end?
Do they interviewed everyone individually?; or group?

Are freshman and transfer auditions for the film program in the same day?

Last year many interviews invites were sent out last week of March and first week of April for transfer students applying for the film program. There were also people who received offers to get into the film program as a transfer with no interview.
