Thanks for all the great info!

Glad to see that your son’s application process is pretty much finished. My son is also at BCT right now, a member of the AFA Class of 2011 at the AFA. He also applied for ROTC, Purdue, Embry-Riddle, Naval Academy. He received letters of assurance from both Naval and Air Force (Naval came in the beginning of Oct/AF the end of October). However, don’t get discouraged if one doesn’t come through. His liason officer found the stats for him that only 92 or 93 kids received AFA letters of assurance. The majority of appointments will be coming after that. My son, however, did not advise Purdue until right before the deadline to get his full housing deposit back (May 1, I believe), in case…God forbid…something happened and he would be medically disqualified even after being accepted. It was nice to know ahead of time that, pending a nomination, all was set. But he didn’t burn any bridges until absolutely necessary. Good luck to your son! Have him keep doing what he’s been doing. They tell the applicants that even if they have an appointment, they will check on the kids to be sure they are maintaining what their appointments were based on. Sure enough, late May, his high school was sent a form to fill out inquiring on his 2nd semester grades, behavior, etc. (I work at his h.s. in the main office, so happened to be around when it came in the mail.) Best of luck…sounds like he’s on the right track!
