The "average" people club

I’m just curious…where do the members of the “average club” go (or plan to go) to college?

I’m getting a 3.0 this semester. Can I join? I also failed two tests today so I have that covered.

^^What’s your SAT/ACT.

above average, but i’m falling back to my average student ways now that I’m in college.

It doesn’t matter what college we go/plan to go. The point of this thread is to give the usually “average people” some hope and encouragement, and prove that one can still get into really good schools and succeed in life even if you are average.

Venkater is your SAT 2100 or above? Is your ACT 31 or above?

my SAT is above 2100… (but everyone says the SAT is a poor measuer of their intelligence)

How far above venkater? If it is reasonably close, then maybe I’ll let you in. Your grades also have to be low. You said that you have failed 2 tests, but that could just mean that you had a bad day. What’s your GPA?

search my past posts. Yea, I’m just having a bad day, but <50% on two tests is still bad.

The search feature is disabled on CC. Just tell me your SAT. It is probably really high, which is why you’re not telling me.

yea, mid 22s (SAT)

That’s pretty high, probably too high for an “average” club. Unless you have really crappy grades, you’re probably too good for us.

Geez, touchy. I’m not here to judge people, if that’s what you think. I go to a state school (and couldn’t be happier anywhere else) and figured maybe I could find some folks here that did as well since most of the people on this site are obsessed with the top 25.

Here are the colleges that I applied to:

NYU
Fordham
CUNY Baruch
CUNY Hunter
Pace
St. John’s
Wagner

So I am definitely not a prestige whore. Besides NYU, none of the schools are that hard to get into. My counselor said that I wasn’t aiming high enough, but I don’t care about going to a big name school. I am more concerned with getting scholarship $. I have a younger brother and sister and both of them are going to have to attend college someday. I don’t want to go to a grossly expensive school at their expense. I don’t mind. In many ways, I actually prefer the smaller, local, city/state school. They’re affordable and not full of arrogant rich kids whose parents bought them their college admission. The prestige of a school means little to nothing if you aren’t willing to put in any effort.

“The prestige of a school means little to nothing if you aren’t willing to put in any effort.”

Of course it matters. Especially if you are finding a job, and it’s definitely worth an investment.

I am Average yay!
ACT 28
Class: 10th Maths
10th Hindi
10th Science

The only thing away from me getting onto the average bus is my one 5 on an AP test…dangit.

Hepstar: Which Saint John’s do you mean?

St. John’s University in Queens, New York. Home of the Red Storm.

Sure, it doesn’t carry all the prestige of NYU, my “reach” school, but I like it. I was accepted a few days ago into the Honors College with an $18,000 per year scholarship. This covers 3/4 of the tuition, a pretty good deal IMO. I doubt I’ll get anything from NYU, so I may just take St. John’s offer.

“The only thing away from me getting onto the average bus is my one 5 on an AP test…dangit.”

What are your other stats? If they are “average” enough, you might qualify. I decided to be a bit more subjective with admission into the “average” club.
