The Best Marinade; Homemade or Store Bought?

cpt, that sounds great! Can you provide proportions?

Heres my cheap teriyaki marinade

1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. sugar (I like to use brown, but reg is fine)
1/2 TBLS minced or chopped garlic
1/4 tsp ginger (can omit)

Put it all in a zip lock baggie with the meat and walk away.

If I am grilling I re baste before everytime I turn it.

I like making my own, but I also like Harris Teeter’s house brands (grocery chain in SE/MidAtlantic). Years ago my sister-in-law turned me on to marinating flank steak in store-bought Italian dressing. There’s nothing better.

Also try marinating flank in french dressing with sliced onions, it gives it a sweet and tangy flavor

I’ve also used vinaigarette dressing as a marinade for barbequing chicken.

I bought meat from Costco the first time yesterday, but pork tenderloin package came with 4 pieces(too much meat). I made jerk pork tenderloin(spicy) and regular with wine sauce. I need to use all of my spices.

Here is the recipe for the marination, there is a picture in the link.

Columbia Student, your jerk marinade sounds yummy. We’re going to try it this weekend!

… I really like those Jack Daniels EZ Marinader marinades that come in a ziplock style bag. I use these exclusively for meats that I’m going to put on an outdoor grill. Delicious!
