The Cafe Watering Hole

We’ll discuss the issue of “okay” some other day.

Windows 7 is the cat’s pajamas. What’s more, there is now a Safari skin for Firefox, so I can have Safari’s awesome interface without its sluggish browsing speed.

Common style guides provide no consensus on the spelling of O.K., says wikipedia. Face it JB, you will never make me care about the minutiae of grammar.

So, subjunctive in adverbial clauses. Bleh.

Since you correctly used the word minutiae, I’ll let you off the hook for now.

My Spanish class has sort of stopped learning grammar. Now we’re mostly just using the language. I guess that’s a good thing, as grammar only gets one so far in a foreign language. Too many students graduate without being able to use their foreign language skills at all.

Thanks for that.

I have no intention of becoming fluent in Spanish until I spend a summer in a Spanish-speaking country.

If I had my way, I’d spend two years studying abroad. But that’s not really feasible, so I’m willing to compromise.

Thank you.

Mike, for my EE, I’m going to write about Joyce’s distinctive style as seen in Molly Bloom’s stream of consciousness soliloquy at the end of Ulysses. And I may compare it to another excerpt of the same type from another book, but that might be too much.

That is, so far, what I feel the most comfortable with.

I’m having an easy week at school. It’s a bit scary.

I need to decide within the next day if I’m still considering Kenyon. I’m leaning toward no. It’s just a bit too rural for my tastes. I’m kind of tired of the corn fields.

I dislike arbitrary preposition rules.

I have nothing intellectual to add.

I want to go to UChicago sooooooooo badly. I hope my financial aid is good. It makes me sick to think about college.

Then don’t.

I am going to watch a movie then do my homework.

That looks like a lame Facebook status.

“Snoopy Is Cool is watchin a moovie, then hmwrk. LOL…call/text”

A moovie? Kay.

I still haven’t started my homework.

Me either. My movie is just that interesting.

jk, jk. I really should start.

I feel so sick. I’m going to butcher my last contest piano solo tomorrow, and I’m getting a 95 in calculus, which is going to blow my 4.0 if I don’t get a 100 on the next test. And the novel I’m writing for creative writing class totally sucks, and it will quite possibly be the worst novel anyone ever wrote. I know that because I never win any writing contests, regardless of what my teachers think. And to top it off, I won’t be able to afford UChicago. This will sound selfish, but I feel like the stupidest person walking the face of the Earth.

Don’t ever watch Win a Date With Tad Hamilton, like, ever.

You aren’t the stupidest person walking the face of the earth, I promise. The fact that you have self-awareness guarantees that.

I guess feeling stupid isn’t really going to accomplish anything. I tell myself that all the time. But then I feel like an arrogant nerd when I think I’m doing well, and I don’t like feeling that way either. I have a friend who does well, and she knows it. So she goes around acting like she has some higher ability that no one else has, and she refuses to acknowledge that there is intelligent life all around her. I don’t want to be that way. But maybe being self-destructive isn’t the only other alternative.

What a day.

My novel is quickly turning into a train wreck. It’s a creative writing assignment. I set my personal goal at 100 pages double-spaced, though the assignment is 45. So it’s not really a novel. Right now I’m at one and a half pages. I have to be at 12 pages by the end of the month, but I think I’m going to want to have 25 pages done so I don’t have to do as much later.

If you knew what I was listening to right now you would tsk but that’s okay cuz I DON’T CARE I LOVE THE JONAS BROTHERS.

Yeah. I said it. DEAL.
