My D and I will also be arriving this Fri at Penn St
After a 2-month wait, we just got the email from Texas State. It was a “no.” This one hurts ?
@2019wolves - sorry to hear that…there’s a perfect fit out there waiting!
@2019wolves I am sorry. This process is really hard
@2019wolves Us too.
Same
I can’t beli the magic 8ball was wrong! Sadly, it was a no from TxSt for us too. Still waiting on Otterbein, but starting to stress about it bc they said we would hear no later than today. Has anyone heard from Otterbein today?
@2019wolves @brieduck @NYart15 @lithpool I’m so very sorry. My D got a rejection from BW yesterday, and her good friend got two yesterday! It stunk! When these kids open themselves up, sharing who they are in these auditions, it feels very personal when programs say no. The faculty do all they can to de-personalize the no’s, but they still sting. Thankfully, there are many good programs out there, and it will be a happy day when they find the one that fits!!! They are working hard for their dream, and they will find their college home!!! Best of luck to you all!!!
@NYKaren Thank you, and break-a-leg at Hartt this weekend!!!
Thank you @StageDad311 and everyone else for all the encouragement! They will each find their place!
Real proud of my D. Her response to the “no” from TSU was to finish up her submission to Hartt and schedule Kent State.
My D handles the “no’s” much better than I do. She has more prescreen yes’s than no’s, so we’ll just grieve Texas State today and move on tomorrow ?
I asked my D if she would still consider TXSt as they say in the rejection letter that any student can audition for all performances, regardless of major. Because really, in all those articles you read about which college alumni are best represented on Broadway, on film, etc., they never list their majors now do they?
She said no.
Some advice from those who have already auditioned for Baldwin Wallace. D is scheduled for Feb 9th on campus. The website suggests the need to plan to stick around on campus until 6pm. Our only international flight option home leaves the nearby Cleveland airport at 6:25pm, otherwise we are stuck there for another 24hr or longer. So we’d have to get to the airport probably 430-5ish. Anybody remember what time it actually finished? I was going to call them or email but didn’t want to sound like a demanding or annoying parent who might bring negative attention to her application.
This is a challenging and stressful process. We’ve decided to take a break for a few days and not talk about applications and scheduling. We’ve been lucky to get accepted for all of her prescreens but already bracing for the inevitable future disappointments…
@NYart15 Pace - or any college, for that matter - increasing by such a huge amount is ridiculous, but there are so many students applying and parents willing to pay that I’m sure they figure they can increase their bottom line without repercussions.
My D received a “no” from Coastal Carolina. That first one really does sting. She said, “Oh, I didn’t want to go there anyway”! I guess we take it more personally than they do. Next!
Anyone hear from UArts yet?
My D auditioned 11/10 & they said letters would go out in 2-3 weeks. Nothing yet.
@CanaDad, my S called about the timing earlier in the fall because he was hoping to get done early enough to make the call time for a show. (It’s a 2 hour drive for us.) He was told they absolutely cannot guarantee you will be done before 6:00.
@carriemc95 @MTMom624 @peacemama So Cool congrats on acceptances!!
Just got a notification from Otterbein that they’re still reviewing prescreens.
