@MTDad2025 @SoCalPops and I’m from northern CA but my mind just couldn’t get there! Seattle is a great city.
BALL STATE PEOPLE: Check your emails! Unified times were sent!
@ carriemc95 Yes, we received ours too, thank you!
Can anyone tell me how long Rider takes? It feels like we have been waiting forever for the prescreen results.
My D got her Ball State confirmed audition time and her PACE academic acceptance…crossing off steps…there are so many steps to this process!!! #:-S
@MTMom2019 My D submitted to Rider on 11/5 and heard back favorably after about 3 weeks. It was sometime last week. If your child submitted prior to that, I would certainly call. No harm. They did say they’d be back in touch about audition time/date, but she hasn’t received anything yet. Hope this helps. Sending positive vibes!!
@CaliMTdreams Thank you & congratulations to your daughter! Mine submitted it 11/10 so hopefully she will hear soon.
A FAFSA question for those (most of us?) who are applying to more than 10 schools: The FAFSA only lets you designate 10 schools. Have any of you followed the directions to delete some or all of the original list of 10 to be able to add more? Is it true that the original 10 have all the info they need (assuming the FAFSA was filed a while ago), so that it’s OK to delete them in favor of the rest of the schools to which applications have been submitted? Makes me nervous. Thanks!
@FlaMTmom
It made me nervous too but that’s what they said to do when I called them. I haven’t confirmed receipt with any of our schools.
Yep, that’s the procedure. I too was afraid of removing schools from list, so I contacted each school to confirm receipt of FAFSA and was told by a school that if they did not receive, do not remove from list. So, essentially a few schools got it twice because they could not confirm receipt or didn’t start pulling FAFSA info yet and I left them on the second FAFSA. It would be a lot easier and less nerve-wracking if they didn’t have the 10-school limit??!!
With technology, it doesn’t really make sense to limit the number for FAFSA, but I’m sure “they” were not thinking of MT kids when the higher ups decided on a limit…
It’s not just MT kids! I work with students applying not just to MT, but for all fields of interest, and the majority of my students have more than 10 applications.
FAFSA is probably old software. Hence the limit of 10. Government services… kinda like the DMV.
So my ever-so-unhappy D just PASSED Carnegie’s prescreen for acting, but she wanted MT. Does anyone know if kids who go into acting can then move into MT later?
Hello! I was told by fafsa that as long as you receive the email saying fafsa processed the “correction” (i.e. new schools added) all the schools can access the info whenever they choose to. So you can keep deleting and adding more every time you receive that confirmation!
I was told as well that as long as a school had pulled your FAFSA you could delete them. But contacting to verify several of our schools hadn’t. So make sure before you remove. Love the schools that let us know!
@BWmama yes I know about MT program at Cornish. My D best friend did walk in at Unifieds last year and accepted their MT offer. He loves the program and loves going to college in the heart of Seattle. Go visit campus. That solidified it for him.
@CanaDad definitely call the school and explain about International flight options. They should accommodate you. That’s a legitimate issue and audition process is already immorally too expensive. If they don’t accommodate your unique situation that tells you loads about their program. These colleges are making serious bank on all these fees and cost of auditioning. Unifieds/hotels/flights application/pre screen fees it’s crazy! Not to mention the cost of tuition. Ask worst case scenario they say no. But they should work with you.
@CanaDad My daughter auditioned Nov 11th and the dance call is at the very end, pretty much requiring everyone be there till the end of the day. I know it’s frustrating, but if I were in your shoes, I would just plan on staying the extra night rather than have the added stress of whether or not they are running on time (which is out of everyone’s control).
@BWmama - I really doubt that CMU allows transfers from Acting into MT. Both programs are small, intense and super exclusive. I think if you accept their offer you commit yourself to the program that admits you. I honestly wouldn’t stress about it because CMU is a huge long-shot for everyone even if you get an audition. They only accept 20 kids for acting and MT combined from 1,000+ auditions. If she really wants an MT program then let her audition at CMU Acting but get her to focus on the schools that will audition her for MT.
