Zimmerman Library at University of New Mexico leans heavily into the Pueblo/Territorial style of architecture. Very different from the East Coast/Midwest ideal of library.
One really cool feature is the stairway going to the lower/basement level has actual fossils embedded into the wall which simulate the different geological layers of the surrounding area.
And for something completely different - California State University Channel Islands is located on the former Camarillo State Mental Hospital grounds. Broome Library was constructed by demolishing former intake and treatment facilities then wedging this modern glass structure between two remaining sections of the original Spanish Revival building, seen on each side:
This reminds me of one of my favorite libraries, the Graduate Theological Union Library, located on the hills north of U.C. Berkeley, also designed by Louis Kahn.
Michigan’s UnderGraduate LIbrary is referred to as “The UGLI” for good reason. It’s been renovated since my day, but it’s still underwhelming compared to many of those shared above.
Not really remarkably different, but as S24 was submitting his Vassar application this evening (finally), I was playing around with their 3D map, and I thought this was also a cool shot of the library lobby:
