The dogs

Oh gotcha. No, a lot of dogs that they have abandoned there (he works at essentially a doggie day care so not even a shelter or anything) are dogs that have outgrown their puppy stage or are starting to show age and the owners just don’t want to deal with them anymore.

@emeraldkitty, I wish we lived near each other. My dog needs a lot of exercise, too. DH takes him on an 8 mile run twice a week and I walk him for 3-5 miles every other day. Sometimes we let him go at a nearby golf course and he runs like there’s no tomorrow!

I do hope you have all watched the new Budweiser commercial!!! :"> ADORABLE.

(Hope this works, my first time pasting a link since the upgrade…)

ETA…Oh. Holy crap. How do I resize that thumbnail??? Yikes. Sorry.

Im grateful we have several dog parks nearby, my new knee wouldn’t permit running or even a five mile walk.
Im working on it though, I want to do a 5k with D in March.

This one would LOVE to run on a golf course!
:)

Romani - We got Buddy from the pound , he was on petfinder.com. If I look him up now it still has his pictures
but it says he found a home. I think that site is great!

That’s wonderful, MG! I wish you many happy years together!

Ndrsb, golden puppies usually have more coat than that puppy does. They are fluffier in general, especially around the ears. Yellow labs come in various shades, including fox red.

I think I want several of these pups: http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/30/living/puppy-bowl-2014-by-the-numbers/index.html?hpt=hp_c4</a>
acollegestudent- there are even going to be guinea pigs!

So I changed my pic for just a bit to show off our two awesome best friends. These ol sisters were with us for 16 years before we lost them in the last few years. Miss them so much. We have since picked up our newest family member but he is so, so bad !

Yes, I found some of the adorables. Mine was very white, but these photos show quite a bit of variability.

I’m wondering… Buddy is mostly beagle but he’s also part something else. Our vet has a DNA test that will show what his genetic make up is. I know it sounds kind of silly but I am curious what else he has in him . Has anyone done a DNA test on their dog?

Our dog is a beagle/border collie. Would never guess it otherwise, except we have a pic of her mom from Petfinder (she and the pups were abandoned together) and she was an all-black BC with long hair and feathers. Our dog has very long legs and is a definite herder. Michigan, he looks like he has some other hound (coonhound?) in him.

That’s what the people at the pound thought but the vet thinks he may have either some basset hound or springer spaniel based on his legs…So that’s why I’m kind of curious. :-?

Luckily, someone came to reclaim the French Mastiff today. Turns out it was part of a “custody” issue where the owner’s boyfriend took the dog when they broke up (she lived in a different county and has been frantically calling shelters looking for him- he doesn’t work for a shelter though… she never thought to calling boarding places and I don’t blame her). I guess she broke down in tears when they were reunited. The dog had been gone for a few weeks and being an old dog that looks like a “bully” breed, there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that he would’ve survived in a shelter.

But I was attached so of course I’ve been spending time on Petfinder. We found http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/28025831/</a> and both my fiancé and I are a little in love. We’re trying to talk ourselves out of adopting but it’s not working. I’m just nervous because we’re moving in a year and a half if all goes well and I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if we adopted her and then she couldn’t make the move because of her age. Plus, we can’t really cope with huge vet bills at the moment if she needed something major.

OTOH, I can’t bear to think that no one will give her a forever home to live out her last days. Decisions, decisions!

romani, that looks like the dog my college boyfriend had growing up. He was named Caesar – a proper name for a large, dignified (if drooly) dog!

Puppy bowl! Puppy bowl!

Consolation, I’m so sorry about the loss of your golden girl. I know she will be greatly missed.

Got some chuckles out of this:

Someone should do a dog version.

Hey Splashmom, your dog looks a bit like mine :)

So many corgis!!!
