Rejected. JHU '14.

hey guys,
you did great to get this far! I’m sure cool intelligent people like you will go far!!!
And by chance, those that received emails, your names don’t happen to start with As Bs or Cs…?

were there no acceptances in the first batch?

SeriasB My son got rejected. Oh well, when the phone calls started and his phone was silent I suspected as much. Now we can get on with planning his future with YALE!

BTW I enjoyed reading all of your thoughts, comments, posts etc but now

I’m OUTTA HERE

And actually, yes, my last name comes early in the alphabet

Rejected too, Columbia it is. Actually, anyone know anything about Princeton’s list?

Yeah… are they sending out rejections first? Or are they going down the alphabet? My last name starts with “E”… anyone?

My last name comes early in the alphabet too.

Mine’s at the very end of the alphabet, so it isn’t strictly alphabetical.

Wow, it looks like the first wave was 100% rejection…

Good luck to anybody here who is still waiting. It’s been a pleasure getting to know some of you guys, and congratulations on your accomplishments. I have been honored and humbled in the face of such outstanding individuals.

I will most likely be going to Dartmouth next year. Anybody else that’s also going there, feel free to contact me, as I’d love to get to know you better.

Remember guys, there’s always grad school in 4 years!

Oh Thanks for the info guys!
Good luck to you!!!

yea rejected, gl rest of you

I think Harvard precedes good news with phone calls and sends bad news by e-mail, from what I’ve heard. I guess they don’t want to hear the disappointment in people’s voices. (Seems kind of cowardly, but maybe all schools do that?) Anyway, cheers to everyone here. Remember that every year, hundreds of admitted applicants to each of the elite colleges, including H, turn down their spots in favor of another school. There is no one and only great college for anyone, especially for the likes of those on this list.

The mail confirmed what I was told by telephone yesterday. I have until next Wednesday, May 26th at 4:30pm EST to respond “via the accepted student website.” I live on the East Coast. My name is near the end of the alphabet.

I hope as many of you as possible also get off this damn WL. And I hope my classmates in Cambridge will be as smart and funny as so many of you are. All the best, SD

Anyone on the West Coast get emails yet?

Well Harvard rejected some great people, so I won’t feel as bad when I get rejected.

No word yet, but the trend isn’t looking good so far.

Am I right that you can say “I go to…” or “I went to…” [name of any college in America] without sounding like an arrogant, elitist, pig…unless that college is Harvard? Then, it’s practically impossible. Maybe it has something to do with those r’s that you’re not quite sure how much to pronounce.

So who needs that as a lifetime burden?

^ No. Yale and Princeton are seen as elistist as well, maybe not to the same extent as Harvard but still.

I think the days of perceived elitism at any of those schools are rapidly waning, since word is getting around that more than half of the students attend on financial aid. The old connotation of privilege is fading fast. It seems like it’s mainly older people who worry about things like H-Bomb. (Well, and also people who pretend to worry about it, but can’t wait to drop it. ; ) ) So announce your school affiliation with due pride, wherever you may go!

Daughter just got the rejection e-mail.
At least it’s over. Good luck!
