The important COUNTDOWN

watch the penn servers crash at 7:00pm EST as everyone logs in at once. lucky west coasters, they get it at 4.

20 days left ;/

nineteen :o

what date do you guys think Penn is going to post ED decisions? Someone at the Pton board said the Ivy’s were going to release at the same time this year. Princeton’s came out on the 10th last year so thats what I’m expecting but someone said they were pretty sure everyone’s was coming out on the 14th? eh…who knows these thing?

starry, a letter was sent out that said that the decsions would be online on Dec 14th at 7 pm EST. the letter contains the pin and password needed to see the decision. if you havent gotten it, i live in new jersey and got it last saturday. hopefully you will get yours soon. ^_^

if i was that person, i’ll stick with the 14th…

we’re in the teens now!

-December SAT (Sat. Dec. 3): 1 week, 1 day (8 days)
-Online Notification (Wed. Dec. 14 @ 7pm): 2 weeks, 5 days (19 days)
-Acceptance Letters sent (Thurs. Dec. 15): 2 weeks, 6 days (20 days)

not related to the countdown, but rank trumps gpa right? if a school doesn’t report rank, but in decile’s would the fact that i’m well within the range of the top 10% trump the fact that my uw gpa is 3.6-3.7?

how many are in your class?

same question for me i suppose…

im ranked 8/307 (or 300… something like that… i dunno how many dropouts there were from junior year to senior year…)

but i have a 3.57 unweighted (A/A+ = 4.0 A-= 3.67, B+= 3.33)… ive taken the most rigorous course load in my year (the only to have completed 5 aps… everyone else is 4…) so i got a weighting boost… which explains my rank…

see, in your case it should be ok. if you take the hardest courses, your rank will prove that its just a tough grading curve.

what if my weighted GPA makes it seem as though i could be valedict…but i’m only say #5. my school gives me the option to only send GPA w/o rank.
Should I do that?

18 days guys

jabber: really depends on the numbers. in most cases it will be ok to send the rank, but in certain circumstances it might be a little better not to. Either way u should be fine though. I’d have to know the numbers. Regardless, sounds like all your numbers are fine (you’re #5, so unless its a class of 45…), so it really won’t have any meaningful influence on your application.

ahh damn it, i’m 22/411? but i have the hardest courseload in the school (creditwise 182.5 compared to 120 needed for grad) with 10 ap’s… but my school doesn’t give rank anymore, does the fact that it says i’m in the top 10% by a comfortable margin trump the fact that my gpa is probably 3.65? lol, it seems silly asking this now, after i’ve already applied ed…

also, another thought, my school is one of the best in jersey, like #10-20… if someone ranked no. 6 in a class of 90, it looks a lot better than if they ranked no. 20/400, i just think that’s odd, or it could just be my perception, cuz i’d prefer the single digit rank haha

thanks seifo…I’m actually Pton ED but I just wanted to know what the dates were for other Ivies in case they happen to be the same date (Pton has said nothing about it yet)

thank 26e.

i’m 4 of 186 (at least was 4, it’s competitive and changes every quarter, possibly went down)…
101.5 average
valedict is 102.2

i already applied to Penn, but for other schools I want to get it right.

-December SAT (Sat. Dec. 3): 1 week (7 days)
-Online Notification (Wed. Dec. 14 @ 7pm): 2 weeks, 4 days (18 days)
-Acceptance Letters sent (Thurs. Dec. 15): 2 weeks, 5 days (19 days)

Good luck to everyone, as you all wait for “decision day”. Those of you who are accepted into the same schools (such as Penn), never forget who you have met on these boards. Being up here at Penn now, I still chat with some of the folks who were already at Penn or who were trying to get in at the same time I was. Aside from getting pointers on the adimission’s process, these boards can help you meet really great friends. Again, I hope you all end up here at Penn. This school is the “hottest thing” going these days!

“This school is the “hottest thing” going these days!”

too true -__-" that makes it bad for those applying though
