The Insomniacs Thread - Chat here when you are up in the Middle of the Night

Been up for an hour……

I’ve done something to my back, and the throbbing is keeping me awake. :pensive:

Got about four hours of sleep here at my mom’s. Not even sure what is going on with her care so I am awake with worry.

It’s 3 am. Had a terrible dream.

Been up for an hour……

Woke up to go to the bathroom and see that my bff’s mom passed at 12:59. Now, can’t get back to sleep. I got almost six hours so could be worse, but I hope that i’ll be able to go back to sleep after I do the Spelling Bee.

Oh, and now I jusst heard Bill Belichick is out. Can’t decide whether that’ll make me sleep easier or not.

I lay in bed 11-1:30 and finally slept 5 hours. Typical unfortunately. My new bone med, Evenity, isn’t helping: insomnia is a listed side effect.

My sister and I were talking about not being able to fall asleep. We both find comfort in our mother’s words 50+ years ago… “if you are lying in bed, it is OK if you’re not asleep yet - it is still good rest for your body”. But darn, it can be annoying.

@Colorado_mom I tell myself that too. I was already on this thread but this medication is making things worse, and when I am asleep, my dreams are complicated and sometimes disturbing- another listed side effect!

Ugh, I have a cough that gets worse when I get in bed. Last night I was able to sleep but I woke DH up. We’re in a small cabin in Florida so he slept on the couch. Tonight I was coughing so much I got up and am sitting on the couch. It’s 12:15 and the taxi driver is coming at 4:45 to take us to the airport.

I had COVID in January so I guess this is just a virus. Or COVID leftovers? I have my annual exam on Friday so I will see what my doctor thinks.

Take a test just to be sure

So sorry you have to end your vacation that way. Have you tried Mucunex with Dextromethorpan? I have used the Amazon version when a cold lingered with cough and it really helped. And hope it’s not Covid again!

Thanks, I will try that. I don’t feel sick at all, except for coughing. Yesterday I played tennis and walked about 15,000 steps.

Ugh, I’ve gotten very little sleep tonight. This cold/ear infection/ear drum perforation is just horrible. It feels like I’m wearing high quality ear plugs. I can barely hear the TV when I turn the volume up to 100. I can’t hear DH at all, really. But inside my head, it’s very loud. Tinnitus and the sound of my heartbeat are very loud. I woke up after a couple of hours of sleep with nausea and a bad headache.

The doctor said this could take 4-6 weeks to resolve. I really don’t know how I’m going to be able to stand it.

Well, at least I see some funny things online when I can’t sleep.

I wonder if you should see an ENT??? It sounds pretty severe. Multiple symptoms that have to do with your ear, balance, etc.

So sorry, @MaineLonghorn . That stinks! I should have posted here the other night when I had what I call one of those “power naps” where you almost fall asleep or maybe fall asleep for 5 min and then wake up and are wide awake! It happened twice that night! My watch app says I only got 4ish hrs of sleep that night :frowning:

This thread (and others) gave good company when I was up at 4am last night, hungry. Luckily dealing with the snow dump will use up some calories.

I was thinking that, too. I will check with my doctor tomorrow. I don’t understand why I still can’t hear out of the ear without a perforated ear drum. I’m using Sudafed and Afrin, per doctor’s instructions, but I can’t tell they’re doing a thing.

I’m going to try to go to the gym in the morning. Hope I sleep some tonight.
