Intel has kept to their tick-tock schedule for a number of years now. The plants in Ireland, Arizona and Oregon should be under construction now. Intel has a lot of cash available.

Is the world going to come to an economic end shortly.

Well with a combination of immersion and double patterning, its feasible but hard. To get beyond that, they’ll need euv.

“Wouldn’t it be great - working at the same job for 10000 years.” :)

“You will be able to continue working,no reason to retire, when the end is not near”

I don’t think my kids read my posts, which is good, and this may be blasphemy, but I don’t like working. ;)

Neither do i. ;)

:)…

Great PhillyFed…

And you want ME to work for eternity. Thanks a lot. :)

On Intel, we should get an update at IDF September 11-13. I’m hoping that they show off 14 nm Haswell parts.

Australia is one of just a handful of countries to be rated AAA by all three major credit-rating firms. A triple-A credit rating is a touchstone for global financial investors but is getting harder to find, with the financial health of debt-laden European sovereigns shakier by the day and the U.S. facing its own large debt pile.

Mitul Kotecha, Hong Kong-based head of global foreign exchange strategy at Credit Agricole, said that central banks are also increasingly investing in the Australian dollar, which in turn “is becoming a reserve currency — or at least a minimal reserve currency. It’s getting some traction with reserve managers.”

Yields are around 3.5% there. Not as good as a few years ago but better than the US.

BCE you have liked the Australian dollar for a while now, yes?

Dstark, why would the French gov’t pick 109 stocks to target? Sheez. Is there a mutual fund out there with these 109 stocks that has a shorting strategy? I’d buy that.

I am about to sell stocks for the first time in my life. If anyone could enlignten me, what happens when you click sell?

22 years. Yes.

Igloo, I have no idea what the French are thinking.

The transaction taxes, for the most part, are stupid. I doubt France is going to get more revenue because of those taxes.

And that tax is pretty high. Looks like a small rate, but those small rates add up.

Next risk: war with Iran in September or October.

I’m reading about a lot of chatter but it doesn’t seem like oil is pricing in this risk which has me tending not to believe it. I can understand Iran getting increasingly antsy if their allies keep having problems.

Would Israel start a war with Iran before the election? It seems like they would do so after the election.

I think that the weather and time of year dictate when you would want to go to war over there. Not sure that it would be Iran and Israel kicking it off.

Overheard a conversation today - coworkers talking about housing prices. One guy wants to sell his place and move to Maine and work remotely. They already have two properties up there - they just can’t get the price that they want down here. The problem may be due to problems with their school system. I like Maine in the summer but it’s too isolated for me. Yes, Portland is not too far away but it’s not Boston.

For those out there with a bit of a technical bent that are interested in 3D printing you should check out Solidoodle. [Solidoodle | Affordable, Easy-to-Use 3D Printers](http://www.solidoodle.com/) $500 for your own pre-built home 3d printer.

I’m currently involved in R&D work on doing this 3d printing with metals, and we’ve had some really exciting ideas and results in just the year we’ve been active with it. :)

RacinReaver, what you are working on is beyond my pay grade. It looks fantastic. Cutting edge stuff. Very cool.

The price the guy wants, did it sound unrealistic to you? I would have liked to get a better price for my old house, but that ship has sailed.

People tell me that they want to sell their homes, but they are waiting for home prices to go back up. People are still counting on house price increases.

They want to sell, but are waiting for their home to increase in value? But wouldn’t the next home they purchase also rise accordingly, and if you are trading up, you lose…

We are old now. We are trading down. :)

I love my smaller place. I know it is hard for some people to believe. Actually, most of my friends don’t believe it even after they visit my place. Lol

Hmmmm…looks like Knight Trading had some issues today. Maybe a fat finger? Stocks were trading at ridiculous prices.
