I get frustrated with articles like this when they compare now to 2007 and 2000. In 2000, the market was way overpriced and at the end of 2007 - beginning of 2008, it was clear that things were not improving. I don’t completely agree with Arend’s statement that the economy is weakening now.

You’re right.

Times are different…

Back a few years ago, people were overlaying charts with the depression and since they looked similar, saying that we were going to go another leg way down, completely ignoring that the economic environment was completely different.

I’m not sure it was different. Jmo. I think the fed and Paulson and geithner And bernanke were super aggressive.

Bush and Obama did pretty good jobs. Bush did not stick with his ideology. Just watching every day, you can see others can’t do that.

These interest rates are not real.

The fix is not done.

People that own assets are happy. Bernanke is buying your stuff.

The people that don’t own much are not in great shape. If we built infrastructure and had job programs, different people would be smiling today.

Here’s another view of investor sentiment:

[Sentiment Survey | AAII: The American Association of Individual Investors](AAII Investor Sentiment Survey | AAII)

I think I’m going to have to do a quick step with my 3/1 iwm 90 and spy 151 puts that I sold, the latter this afternoon before the market took a dive.

Doct, you are playing with fire…

Luckily… It is Friday tomorrow and the first day of the month. Or maybe you were conscious or subconscious about this.

Doct, no links for me tonight? I am working out in about an hour or two.

The investor sentiment link didn’t do much for me, but that’s ok. I read it anyway.

Well there are a number of factors. When I sold the 151 spy puts today, spy was at 152.36. For expiration tomorrow, it had a probability of <20% of finishing at 151 or lower. I was thinking of buying spy today so if I get assigned tomorrow, its at a better price than today. I also own 150.5 - 149, 147 3/1 spy puts and 150 - 148.5 3/16 put spreads so I’ve got protection. I’ll probably roll the 151 puts out if it gets to 151. I’ll definitely roll out the iwm puts.

The point of the link was that everybody is throwing out that there is all this bullish sentiment out there. That survey shows sentiment is decreasing and is below the long term average. Market participants are not anywhere near as bullish as some of the market gurus are claiming.

Ok. You don’t have much risk then. Even if iwm drops, the spy spreads should help you…

I didn’t see much downward movement in the after market, I admit I didn’t look too close.

I’m not sure what that link shows. That was a pretty radical change. I don’t remember those numbers changing that much when the market isn’t moving that Much.

March and April are bullish months.

There are a lot of people who are conditioned to expect a replay of 2000 and 2007. We’re close to a very strong resistance level and it is going to take a while to go through.

Ok…

On the exercise machines are tvs. No cnbc. Just fox business.

I noticed that cap gains tax rates have increased. The stock market has
Gone up. Housing is recovering.

We never did get this huge imterest rate increase.
The economy is growing below par. The job market is subpar. Why? Because there is a decrease in govt jobs.

We can see what is happening in real time.
We can live it;.we don’t have to be told bs.

I can’t believe I am looking forw

The iPhone leaves a lot to be desired. Lol

So people like this are making it hard to achieve new highs but eventually they will be sorry they sold?

That is your view doct, as stated earlier…

Spy is trading 151.01…
