The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Maybe those 405 aapl puts I sold aren’t safe

It feels like money is flowing straight from AAPL to GOOG.

Maybe the new Galaxy 4 has something to do with that. Maybe the chop of the Samsung award by half. At any rate, go with the flow.

Apple closed at $419. If this is below $425 support, won’t it gap down soon?

The 425 support is from February 2012. It could easily bounce back above the 425 this week - even though I don’t expect it to.

There must be some news on jcp.

I see support for aapl all the way down…with 350 a big floor…

I spoke to my son. One of his projects is using data mining of tumor genomes. I looked this up and it’s called Oncogenomics.

He has to dumb this stuff down to a pretty low-level for me to get an idea as to what he’s doing.

That is absolutely awesome!!!

I would keep the career advice to a minimum… Lol

He is on another elevation.

Vornado Realty Trust is selling 10 million shares of JCP.

Anybody have a good way to trade goog long now?

So the Dow makes a new alltime high. Does this mean we have never had it this good? Or are the stock market indices like the deficit - we just expect them to keep growing and growing no matter what?

The market is not at an all time high if looked at from an inflation adjusted perspective. Who says the market is a measure of economic reality for most people?

Well…because i am a buyer amd an not going to be a seller for a long time. I am not that excited about the new highs.

Plus…since I told Henry Blodgett we were not going to make new highs within 4 years of making new lows…i was wrong. :)

AAPL fills the gap at 430

My take is that the market reaction is to the comments by Bernanke last week and Yellin this week. The market tanked originally in response to the Fed minutes that said that some Governors wanted to end QE early. Bernake then responded a week later in his meeting with Congress and Yellin yesterday morning in a speech.

I personally feel that there is underlying strength to the economic growth with inexpensive energy as one of the major themes. I’ve been saying this since last fall. But I think that the market stuff this year is due in large part to QE.

BTW, BCE is doing well for those of you that stayed in. I should have been more patient. But I put the money into GOOG.

I must admit that I wish I was more long than I am. I wish I had bought goog and am still looking for some way to get in it. I feel the urge to buy calls in a bunch of stuff but I’m very hesitant about buying now. I guess I’m pretty much frozen in place.

I would not buy today, even if we got a big pullback. It may be tempting to join the party but I almost always regret buying in on a day like today unless it’s adding something like 5% to an existing position.

I did buy BCE after you mentioned it, but I bought it mainly for the dividend so it will probably stay in my portfolio until they cut the dividend and it goes down 50%. I will fondly think of you every time I see that stock symbol in my portfolio, BCEagle91.

only thing I bought today was SDS, apparently part of my portfolio performance minimization strategy.

Back in the day, I use to trade sds before I used options. It probably makes logical sense to play for a short term small pullback later today or tomorrow
