The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

I like the stem cell and human organs possibilities.

Well doct, higher by jun 3 might be a half of a penny higher. (Thanks to a hft firm improving the market by .005.

The 3D printer was invented by a friend of one of my tennis partners. The inventor has a bunch of patents and lives in NH and also plays tennis at a nearby club.

Small world.

dstark, what did you think of the Apple hearings today? Sen McCain said Apple is not paying its tax obligation. I think he is nuts.

I started watching the hearings but I turned them off.

I missed McCain.

Sorry.

I know that McCain started talking about updating apps which is a little strange.

I was at a seminar thing on 3d printing the other week, and there was a guy from a nearby university that’s been involved in the field since the early 90s. The topic got to biomedical devices, and he said Asia and Europe is going to eat the US’s lunch on commercializing the technology. Their equivalent of FDA approval has various fast-tracks so it doesn’t take 10+ years to get approval on a new technique. Makes the amount of money you need to sink into long term trials really shrink, so why would you bother developing it in the US?

One guy he knows currently has a technique where he can print skull implants for children in Africa. Each print costs on the order of a few dollars, and it’s using a material which is ok for implantation in the US. However, the technique needs to go through years and years of trials here first. So, basically, he spends his time in Africa saving kids lives while people stateside need titanium implants and whatnot, all of which cost orders of magnitude more.

Racinreaver, thanks for your interesting post.

You Intel bulls might be right.

So what do you think enough is enough from a retirement standpoint and time to just punt in this market?

So what is the best 3D printer stock?

Bought 9/21 168 - 163 put spreads for 2.05 and sold 9/21 155 puts for 2.17.

Doct, that is a good trade.

So answer your own retirement question?. What is your answer?

I don’t know - that’s why I’m asking to get some ideas. The hard part is if I drop out, how do I cover inflation.

Well, I know you have ideas.

What do you see out there that can give you a high enough return besides stocks?

What do you mean by dropping out? No more trading or stock investment?

About $100 million.

I was busy but just saw iwm spiralling down. Did I miss something? spy and dia too.

I thought it was party in the U.S.A. after no taper talks and now someone turned off the lights and the DJ went on a bathroom break.
