CPU is currently at 131 degrees F, so I don’t know about toast. It does keep the room pretty warm though.

"Doug Kass likes Apple stock. "

Brilliant minds think alike - I bought the aapl 10/19 410 - 510 - 610 butterfly again.

Not sure if any of you guys have Microcenters near you, but man do they have the best prices on CPUs. i5-3570K is $170, plus another $40 discount on any compatible motherboard you buy at the same time. That’ll make the energy savings argument a bit easier. ;)

My Sandy Bridge claims to run around 86°F when the room’s cool. When it’s under a sustained load it’ll spike all the way up to 92°. Makes me laugh when I think about my old Thunderbird that used to get over 160° just on loading Windows. Good thing that computer was in the basement where I could use all the heat I could get.

There’s a Microcenter in Boston but I’ve never been there. I have a friend that loves the place. My workplace gave me an Small Form-Factor Ivy Bridge system and this thing runs really, really cool and has plenty of CPU horsepower. The integrated graphics can drive three monitors too. It’s one of the Dell commercial models.

I’m trying to get back into Firefox development and tried to set up the development environment on my Windows 8 Desktop at home. I spent a day on it and couldn’t get it to work. I suspect that there are build issues on Windows 8 - I believe that their stable development platform is Windows 7. So I’m trying it on an old Windows 7 laptop right now. If it works on the laptop, then I’ll either need a Windows 7 VM on my home desktop or I will get a new machine. Downgrading my home desktop to Windows 7 isn’t really an option as I got it for free without media and I don’t have a way to install it. I might have a license key for it somewhere.

XLF is in a downward dog position right now since last weeks Tepper Tuesday.

Is FB dead or just building a base? They had major lock up of stock on Saturday May 18 that ended so the selling should be abated soon. On the other hand, it is a poorly run company so it may go down some more.

Tepper is not having a good week. He is long Japan. His returns are interesting. He has had years of 60 percent returns and 100 percent returns. He has also had negative returns of 25 percent in a year.

Razorsharp, it is funny you mentioned fb. I just took fb off my watch list today. I guess the first version of fb home is a flop

I wouldn’t count Tepper out just yet especially with regards to the Japan trade. They want to create inflation and will get the yen as low as possible going forward. I plan on getting back in on that trade. Maybe I’ll pull a Biryni and buy long term otm calls or sell near term puts. I’m not sure yet.

I am not counting Tepper out. Tepper is not having a good week. That is it.

I think intc closed at a great price for me. I guess I will find out next week.

I told myself I was not going to be a dipper today and enter a new long position over the 3-day weekend but Mickey beckoned me at the lows. Plus, the markets open next week with Tepper Tuesday and possible window dressing.

[Can HP Find a Big Niche for Windows Tablets? | Wall St. Cheat Sheet](http://wallstcheatsheet.com/stocks/can-hp-find-a-big-niche-for-windows-tablets.html/)

My favorite form-factor for tablets is 7-8 inches and it seems that this is the most popular form-factor today. I can fit my Nexus 7 in my jacket pocket and women like that size for their bags. It’s easy to handle and lightweight so you can hold it for a while if you want to watch a movie. We have regular iPads and I don’t use them unless the Nexus 7 isn’t handy. I probably would have preferred an iPad Mini but the Nexus 7 came out first. The iPad Mini is still the king when it comes to tablet apps and the quality of those apps.

I’m also a fan of multiple, large monitors. I don’t see what a 20 inch tablet does for me except to worry about dropping the thing. The Nexus 7 is $200 and it’s easy to get a case on the cheap so that it doesn’t get damaged from a fall. A 20 inch tablet is going to weigh 7 pounds at least and what happens if you drop it? The article indicated that it’s going to come with 1 TB of storage - this means a hard disk drive and those don’t particularly like a lot of moving and jostling which tablets can get because they are mobile devices.

Some $compq charts for your consideration:

I left the streamer off yesterday. Instead I used my streamer computer to install a bunch of development tools and did a Firefox build and it worked. It’s pretty relaxing to be out - having been completely out in a long time. The only pain is those paltry interest income payments.

I like the charts.

We see what we want to see.

I have noticed that some of my bonds have sold off. Then I look at the utility chart and I see that utility stocks have sold off. Hmmmm…

This week a couple of utility stocks dropped 30, 40, 50 percent in the first half hour of trading. Circuit breakers were not in effect at that time. I don’t know if trades were busted. The initial report was stop loss orders set the stocks reeling. I guess I will look up what happened.

So BCEagle91, you are still out of the market?

A friend of mine just called me and told me that his ex wife is up hundreds of thousands
in the stock market this year. My friend is very excited because that makes it a little less likely that he will have to bail her out.

Ok…I didn’t see your last post about being out of the market.

I didn’t know about the flash crash and it doesn’t show up in the charts. I had a look at AEP as I’ve been an investor in the past. It has had a nice run and it looks like it is in correction mode.

I have about 2.5 years of gains locked in right now. I don’t feel fearful or greedy.
