I am talking my book now. I have been on CC for 10 years. I have been on CC long enough and I am retired that I think I can do that now.

I am long intc below 25. Above 25, I am short intc. But I will fix that if the stock rallies. Below 24.5 I will be longer intc than at anytime previously. That is only for today though. If the stock closes above 24.5 today I am not going to be that long. In other words… I am net short the 24.5 puts, the 25 calls that expire today. I like to tell people where I am coming from. If this is not understandable, that is ok. I have different financial interests depending on where intc is trading.

I like intc. I had that vision that intc is going to trade higher.
I think I can make more money short premium than long intc stock right now. Less risk too. So I am cutting my stock position.

I think intc is going to do well in new areas. The problem is you have to sell a lot of 30 dollar chips to replace sales declines in 300 dollar chips. I think intc is going to do well but not boom.

I think tech devices are going to get cheaper and cheaper.

I’m fairly simple, even with options. I don’t want to work that hard to understand that stuff.

This is true. Ten to be exact. But the margins on those $30 chips is just as high as the margins on those $300 chips because those $30 chips have far fewer transistors on them so you can make far more of them per wafer.

This isn’t a bad thing. Cars now typically have 15 to 50 CPUs in them. Dishwashers, washing machines, refrigerators, traffic signals, GPS devices, security systems, etc. often have CPUs in them too. These markets are dominated by ARM devices but these are markets that Intel could compete in too in the future.

Intel estimates that one server will serve about 122 mobile devices so their server sales should hold up, even with ARM-based mobile devices selling like mad.

Covered. Went long SUNE. Breakout today despite the weak market. I think that it has about $2.75 upside. Tried to get some cheap shares of PSEC today. MM gave me 300. I wanted 4,000. Price kissed my order and then headed north. That’s annoying.

PBA had a nice move today too. Crude is around $97 on Syria.

PBA is actually in a bearish flag pattern. It would need to move somewhat higher to negate the pattern. There are a ton of similar charts. Stocks that made new highs a month ago and then pulled back and then have settled into pennants or flags. Energy-related stocks may be reacting to the situation in Syria. Other stocks have ascending or descending triangles. It’s basically indecision. Long-term bullish patterns and short term bearish or indecision patterns.

What about Intel being on a process that generates twice the number of chips per wafer? If they get two generations ahead, then four times the number of chips per wafer.

I use a tight stop on things that I’m not that familiar with or on things with a lot of volatility that I’m not used to or if I get a pattern failure. GE is in a sideways pattern that started about six weeks ago. My stop is a big below that trading range. Looking at it now, it looks like my stop is more around 3%.

Sometimes I buy at the top of a trading range expecting a breakout. If the breakout doesn’t happen, then it typically falls back into the trading range. I usually don’t worry that much if it remains in the trading range if the pattern is going the way I want it to. If the pattern is negated, then the theory for being in is gone.
