The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

OMG! Thanks for the link. I see dollar sign already. :D

That 's the news? Seriously? My son lives in NY and I am not worried.

Ok… I am going to eat a nice dinner. Have a good night.

You may not be worried but why do you think the market behaved the way it did last week? This isn’t Dallas. This is NYC, the financial capital of the world. You can rest assured the traders are going to freak out tomorrow.

Especially after an up day like today. Traders are like … of the industry, well I rather not saying the bad word here.

We’re going there Saturday. My wife is already freaking out somewhat and she is a pretty level headed person.

The market was going up even higher until the ebola news came out in the afternoon. It dropped suddenly about 0.5%.

and the news was that he was being tested not that he had it

So it caught a wind of the Ebola news. Who knows that’s the excitement of trading I guess.

Futures tumble on ebola news.

<a href=“Global shares post best week since mid-2013 after earnings boost”>http://finance.yahoo.com/news/asian-stocks-advance-positive-earnings-004832491.html</a></p>

https://www.yahoo.com/news/doctor-visited-africa-tested-ebola-nyc-003404036.html</a></p>

The futures are now down 8?

When the article was written, it was down about 0.7%. It looks like it’s recovering.

Well my stocks are going my way, just not enough to sell and lock in profit yet.

I did close out one trade on AAPL that I purchased just a few days ago. Made some money for 2 days but this is in my long account.

Let’s see if the market takes out my 10/31 199 - 198 and 197 - 196 spy puts next week.

Made some money shorting GOPRO stock. Bought option at 12.75 and sold for 14.37. I didn’t bet big, just a few contracts. In/Out in less than an hour base on what I’ve heard on cnbc.

Closed out my trade for AMZN, bought 290 AMZN Jan 2015 P at 13.43 and sold at 15.97. I was hoping to sell at 16.00 but the traders got to me and I need to go to lunch. Can’t babysit this puppy for hours.

Closed out my shorts on Linkedn following Einhorn guy, made some money. Was ready to put on another thread and somebody came in and talk to me, by the time she’s gone I lost the trade. I would have made some money. Right now I don’t see any obvious direction up or down.

I guess we had a V shaped correction.

What does that mean? Will the market go up or down.

I was not lucky yesterday. I bought 2 puts on TESLA but by accident I bought 2 calls. When I found out, I was thinking to myself maybe the above is telling me something. But in the end I decided to close out the wrong trade with a few cents loss per share, like .03 cents. This morning TESLA went up $20, had I kept the options I would have been richer.
So I’ve heard on cnbc that Facebook had a great quarter but the stock is down after hours.

The market quickly went down in October, was down 9.8% on the 15th and has quickly recovered a large part of the drop - that’s what I mean by a V shaped correction.

I have no idea which way the market is going - it really doesn’t matter. I prefer it to drop but I’m already somewhat more long than before as I bought when the market was down on the 15th. FB is down based on their guidance - nobody really cares about the past, only the future.
