The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

The ny post write up is a lot more interesting

Oh my… Missed that one. Poor kids who got caught up in the middle of this dung flinging!

… And I thought David Blech’s shady biotech investment saga was scandalous. Apparently, not so much - just boring white collar fraud. (I’m dating myself here a bit).

<a href=“A Biotech King, Dethroned - The New York Times”>A Biotech King, Dethroned - The New York Times;

Bought and sold PCLN Jan 1135 call options and made some money. I need to be carefully and not purchasing options so close to expiration date.

Bought 10 11/22 198.5 - 197.5, sold 10 187.5 - 160 spy puts for a net gain of $9.29

I’m making money on my FB calls, just not enough that I want to sell. I think it might go up again tomorrow.

I’m glad I’m not shorting LNKD, it’s up after hours.

Sold FB and made some money. Congrats DocT, you called the bottom. I’m not shorting anymore.

I’m not ready to take profits on that trade yet. I’m thinking of buying some iau and maybe a European etf but I’m not sure yet.

I used this opportunity to swap the losers out for the winners. I spoke too soon. I saw another shorting opportunity, in for a small crumble.

I’m long on European and other internationals but they are in the long term account.

While I was on college confidential, the trade was executed, the stock was TSLA.

I am also long Europe and internationals to some level in a 403b account. It looks like my 10/31 199-198, 185 - 157.5 and my 10/31 197 - 196, 182.5 - 152.5 spy put spreads are going to expire worthless but I was paid $223 for putting these on. I did buy 10 11/14 201 - 200 and sold 10 194.5 - 170 put spreads for a gain of $21.38.

I tried to do a put spread on one stock but I got chicken out. I don’t know how it works yet. Stick to the basic call and put trading for now.

I bought the spy 11/07 196 puts and sold the spy 11/07 194 puts in a 1 to 3 ratio for a .12 credit after commissions.

This isn’t a better trade than what doct is doing. It is slightly different. Could be a worse trade actually. I just wanted the credit. I don’t expect spy to end up between 196 and 194 in a week.

OMG, I sold naked put for one stock and it went even higher than when I made the trade. It was pretty high. I’m hoping Monday is a good day.

Crazy month. Anyone holding VNQ is very, very happy (up 10%)!

That better be you, EMM1.

Great VNQ also has 3.59% yield.

I’m once again confused with my fidelity ira account again. I’m going to have to call them on Monday. I was expecting to see the $8900 dividend on spy that I owe from the 90 spy calls I was short and assigned deducted from my account today as it is payable today. Looking at my account in detail, it looks like it was taken out in September which doesn’t make any sense to me. Does Fidelity do things differently? Are ira’s handled differently?

I would say no and no. Have to call…

You paid the div on 9/23?

By the way, if the money was taken out in Sept and you thought it was going to be paid out today … You have almost. $9,000 more in your account than you thought .
