FB pool at work for closing price estimate. Prices predicted range from $37 to $110

I am the $37 bid; feeling pretty good at the moment.

But, hoping for dstark that I am wrong. I only have $1 at risk ;)

:)…

So is there an implication here to short FB?

I put in a market order to sell when FB was at 42. About 30 minutes later the sell receipt showed the stock was sold at 38 which is bull. The 38 price was not until about 5 or 10 minutes after I sold it. Zuckerberg is a thief and so is the NASDAQ

That’s bad…

I don’t even know if I sold anything…

It has been 45 minutes…

I guess NSDQ has had some problems today.

Razorsharp, why are you calling Zuckerberg a thief? Seems like you have a legit complaint with Nasdaq, and why a market order? Very dangerous trade with a volatile IPO,

Zuckerberg was hired by the Winklevoss twins to build facebook by another name. Zuckerberg liked the idea so much he stole it and created his own social network. He is one of the worst human beings on earth.

Funny, they settled, instead of proving they invented it…Not saying it didn’t provide Zuckerberg with an idea, but…

I hindsight it was stupid for Winklevoss to settle, but if someone was waiving 65 million in front of me for ownership of a social network that probably would get beaten by myspace, I think I would take the money and run too.

Does anyone think the reason why the trading of FB was so screwed up because there was so much upstairs (across internal customers) trading going on?
I think the SEC should look into the delays- could the brokers have sold the stock twice basically, so that they guaranteed a buyer to the first round of buyers in the syndicate ?

How could a price not have been printed till over 1 mm shares traded?
There are tons of shares out there, so there should not have been any problem. Can too many orders at once keep the NASDAQ from showing ANY trades?

I am not basing this on ANYthing other than common sense…
I am nowhere near a trading floor of any kind these days…

The underwriters screwed up and got …

Performersmom…

I wasn’t at work today…

But from watching cnbc…the first trade was millions of shares…at I think 42.05.

NSDQ could not handle the enormous overflow. It was a little busier than usual.

It is also possible that some brokerage firms could not handle the order flow either, but I am not sure about that.

I think the problem with the opening was the orders kept coming in and as a potential opening price was telegraphed…firms andcustomers…reacted to this price by putting new orders in… cancelling
orders, or cancelling orders and reentering the orders with different trading amounts or different prices.

I think what The 33 firms that underwrote the issue didn’t want was an opening price that was very different than where the stock was going to
trade. For example, nobody wanted to see an opening price of 55… And then the stock trades at 38.

I sold the stock at 41.07.

I don’t know, I think I’m going to have to buy some puts. I’ve had to roll out my spy, iwm and aapl puts that I sold.

I don’t know either…

I did not roll my msft or intc puts…
So right now …i am long those stocks…

I might sell calls against those…which would be similar to rolling…

What did you roll your aapl puts too?

This was an ugly week…

Gold may be bottoming? Thinking about buying some here.

BCE- As t-yields hit new lows, can you please repeat the names of the “put 'em away because they are so well-managed and hopefully have a dividend” companies whose stocks you named a while ago on this thread? (hey- you post so much all over the place I also am having a hard time searching for it!)
I recall NIKE, AAPL, but the others escape me…
What about Conoco, Abbott, Baxter, JNJ?
We own all these, but may have missed some good ones…

I had bought some iau 6/16 calls back on 5/10 figuring the support around 15 would hold - it did and has been moving up ever since. Sooner or later, I don’t know when, the central banks around the world will be printing money in earnest. My view is that its a time to hold hard assets (ones that hurt when they drop on your foot).

Bullion n Bars! Adding some here.

Based on what analysis? Gold is dead money. It only goes up if people believe the central banks will inflate. Is the economy so bad the fed will do QE3? It does not look like it yet.

Europe will be printing money sooner or later - most likely sooner.

I bought back the aapl 5/19 545 puts and sold 5/25 540 puts a few days ago.
I bought back spy 5/19 131 puts and sold 5/25 128 puts today along with buying back the iwm 5/19 75 puts and selling the 5/25 73 puts. I would like to own all of these but I’m not comfortable quite yet enough to buy them. I’ll see how next week progress.
