The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Qdogpa, That’s nice…

I would have hated your coaching. :)

" His statement of sooner rather than later has been interpreted as August assuming the job and economic pictures continue to deteriorate and there’s no reason to think that they won’t."

That sucks…

Bernake ‘twists’ and i “shout”. ;)

i was not like that as a player, i probably would have slid into you “spikes” up…showing my age by using spikes, lol…remember when they were metal? In the era before aluminum bats, and when uniforms were made of wool.

Of course, I remember…Except for the wool part.

I coached my oldest daughter’s team the way you coached.

Apple’s earnings release date hasn’t been announced yet, correct?
Isn’t there a slight chance the earnings are going to be released before July expiration? It’s a 5 weeker between Jun and Jul.

Nevermind…looks like jul 24th for Apple’s earnings…

<a href=“Earnings Whispers - Earnings Calendar”>Earnings Whispers - Earnings Calendar;

Thanks for the date - that was the date that I was thinking of based on April earnings. In 2010 and 2011, though, they reported on July 20 and July 19 so I guess it is possible - need to keep on your toes on earnings.

Absolutely…and I can’t vouch 100 percent for this date…I am just assuming it is correct…

I think the apple aug premiums are so much higher than julys…That the date in the link makes sense…

Intel’s date is before expiration according to this site.

The banking powers that be typically manage to hold the price of Intel down until after expirations, even when they post great earnings.

I don’t know about that…

That’s beyond my pay grade…

If there is a large open interest…and those that own the call options don’t want to own the stock…the owners of the options might be selling the calls the last couple of days of expiration…

This puts a little downward pressure on the stock as those that buy the options the last couple of days of expiration sell the stock to hedge…

But its a battle…many times the option players aren’t large enough to affect the stock price much…

"Nevermind…looks like jul 24th for Apple’s earnings…

http://www.earningswhispers.com/cale…=N&day=-34&s=n"

???
I dont see Apple on this report…

I have no idea why the links show before the opening…

Philly Fed was bad, housing is stagnant…everything looks medicore at best…BUT, the pros and Hedgies at the casino located at Wall Street keep running the games…problem is fewer and fewer are coming to the crap table. ;)

Oil cracked 80, woohoo… Though unless it closes at or below, i don’t count it,lol

I think that I called the $80 (or lower) oil price a while ago though I’m not sure if it was in this thread or not. Demand continues to be a problem. Unemployment claims were flat - I guess the best you can say is that it’s better than going up. I didn’t see the Philly Fed report but I can probably guess given the other econ news lately.

Looks like my INTC covered calls are doing well (going down).

I am actually in cash 70% in our IRA right now - been burned a few times too often in the past and was gradually selling out over the last few weeks as the volatility was worrying me. Maybe I have done the right thing for a change. Usually the best advice I can give anyone is look at what I am doing and do the opposite!!!

Interesting article on housing:[News Headlines](New Housing Crisis: Not Enough to Buy)

Timber!!!

Moodys allegedly downgrading banks at 4 pm, since they missed just about every sign prior and during the financial crisis,i could care less what they say or do

This thread is pretty quiet considering the markets today.
I was surprised how much I lost considering my positions aren’t that large.

I wonder how much people buying into the Fed announcement yesterday and selling today affected the markets…

I didn’t work today…so I don’t have a feel…well…I guess tons of things are crushed. :)

I was in Fairfax, Ca today, walking around. Fairfax is a small town in NorCal. I walked by a real estate office and stopped at the window. There was a notice up that stated the office has 15 buyers for 15 homes. We need sellers.
