The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

:)…nah in hindsight…should have sold…isn’t hindsight great?

Possible for rich companies but not us individually. You need two Bloom Fuel Cells to power your house. One costs $700K to $800K. Not quite worth it yet. They want to get the price down to $3K which still might be too much.

Wow… 700k to 3k…

That looks like a tall order…

The CEO believes that this is attainable in the next ten years.

Perhaps they have a technological insight as to how to do it.

Well …we will see…

Anyway, BCEagle91…I like the links. Thanks.

Who aside from some posters here is going to layout 3k ,not the average Joe certainly

It would be $6K as you would need two of them.

I would expect some tax credits for these things. A household could run off the grid if they wanted to eliminating line charges which are substantial these days. Or a household could run connected to the grid generating power and selling the excess to the electricity company at retail (utilities must do this now with solar-generated power). I think that it would be fairly easy to turn a profit on excess power generation.

A further advantage is that you wouldn’t need a backup generator for power outages.

People put in $10K to $30K solar arrays in their homes - doing a fuel-cell would be comparable or cheaper than solar in initial costs.

I was wrong. My biotechs did not do so badly today. Well, there are always tomorrow and someone’s big mouth. I still remember how one governmental official completely wrecked our portfolio in one day. :D

Ellemenope, I like ADC technology plays (someone with an advanced degree in immunology can explain what this is probably even better than I can ;)). You still have to do your own due diligence! :)

I don’t know about this Chesapeake…

Looks like this company likes to engage in white collar crime…

[Chesapeake, Encana shares fall on report of land price plot - Yahoo! Finance](http://finance.yahoo.com/news/chesapeake-encana-shares-fall-report-225925218.html)

Bc,i do n’t know a single person who has any solar panels,…so i don’t see any upside to fuel-cells in homes

It is really dead today…

I am looking at some volumes of etfs…

GLD has traded 2500 shares so far…
QQQ has traded 36500 shares
Iwm has traded 40500 shares
Tza has traded 76000 shares…
Spy has traded 500600 shares…

Pathetic…

Stocks…

Msft has traded 5800 shares
Aapl has traded 21300 shares
Intc has traded 400 shares…
Jpm has traded 25500 shares
Wfc has traded 2600 shares
Ibm has traded 0
Xom has traded 0

Antares up nearly 15 % since i suggested it yesterday, anybody take a speculative stake? I am selling 1/2…

Upscale retail is floundering, Walmart is at a high not seen since 2000… Not a good sign when upscale purchasers are not spending

Nice on the Anteras…

Is there some news that high end retailers are struggling?

Tiffany at 52 week lows, and levels not seen since 2010
Coach 30% off spring highs
Nordstrom off 20% since early May

Upscale buyers are not buying? Hmmm… In Paris, the LV store was mobbed, and so were the Longchamp places; however, some upscale shops looked like deserted islands. Ditto here and in Silicon Valley. Maybe the shoppers have smartened up and nowadays buy only what they think of as good deals, like LV and Chanel bags, 60% clearance items at Nordstrom, etc. Maybe that’s why I could not find the friggin’ JC shoes anywhere?

The biotechs are still hanging in there… Strange.

Our local malls here are just empty, I’ve heard it’s on the verge of bankruptcy.

Nike is off about 10% (sold my shares yesterday). They report on Thursday and I think that European sales will have fallen off a cliff. What matters is China, US and South America. Whole Foods is chugging right along and they are looking for a property in the South End of Boston to open their second store. At least they are bullish on Boston.

Our new Premium Outlets Mall opened a few weeks ago. I haven’t stopped by as I really don’t need clothes right now and I should be spending more time working out than shopping for workout clothes. I will make my way over eventually - I did notice that the new mall didn’t have an impact on traffic.

My Apple MacBook Pro Retina is still scheduled to arrive in about 3-4 weeks so people are apparently still snapping those up.

So BCEagle91, what security are you interested in now?

The new mall did not have an impact on traffic? Is the new mall off to a slow start?

Since razorsharp noticed, I am out of ANR…well, I have 100 shares left…because I was sloppy and miscounted my shares. I was long the Jun 9 puts and I exercised them.

I turned a nice profit in ANR over the years into a loss in the near term…and maybe a tiny profit over the last severall years.

That was really stupid.
