<p>Hi i shd just post my reply to your personal message here to let others see how I view Carleton.
- Cambridge’s econ is better than Carleton, in terms of job placement. however, UK does not allow Intl’ students to stay there and find job since the local unemployment rate is already very high. in the case of Carleton, you may read other threads about job placement on this forum: Carleton does not hold your hands to give u a job, but there are many opportunities that are just there waiting for u to seize. </p>

<li><p>Carleton has a very strong math department, which is closely related to econs. and econ department is not that useless either. it is just not as shiny as the sciences/math departments of Carleton.
Remember: we dont really have to rank/compare the strengths of departments between two schools because they are both really good. maybe this year a few students study econs in Carleton and they all end up in good IBs, then ppl will say Carleton’s econ department is really cool. hah. actually i think in the case of a top LAC such as Carleton, the faculty strength should not be worried. </p></li>
<li><p>Based on the stats, Carleton’s econ department is not that useless. in one batch when there was 19 ppl majored in econs, 2 went to morgan stanley, and 6 went to other ibanks such as goldman sachs, and the rest went on to PhD. how can u say this is weak? Carleton is highly respected for ppl that matters, trust me. it just does not have the "wow " factor as HYP,other than that, it is a really perfect school.</p></li>
<li><p>for the concern of “jocks and drama queens”, i would guarantee you that Carleton has the least number of these ppl. firstly it is a mid-western LAC, where ppl are generally more laid-back and down to earth. 2ndly carleton is famous for its students being “really academically focus and not caring about what they wear or how they look like”, while in the case of Middlebury, the scene would be totally different. thats why i dont like midd. imagine: why would someone come all the way from the cozy home to a place that really freezes ppl’s ass off during winter if they just wanna relax and be punky?</p></li>
