The lack of info and responses must mean there is very little or no hope. Sorry, Burrrns, I know we will do well in our other choices.

I may be able to provide some insight, I’m a Macaulay student at Hunter Class of '13. Last year Hunter over enrolled us Macaulay students by almost 15 (we started off with 139). This is quite a bit considering each class has generally been only 125 or so students. In light of this I think this year they were being considerably more conservative in admissions. If memory serves I heard they only accepted about 226 students this year out of the 1600+ that had applied. This is just me talking but even if they manage to keep up the same yield as last year I believe there should be a tiny bit of wait-list movement. This is no guarantee that anything is going to happen, I like the college can’t completely predict yield and this is just my own personal opinion. I’m not even supposed to know the admissions statistics for this year. For all I know we could end up over enrolled again. Hopes this gives you guys a better idea of the situation though.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it. Good luck with your studies!

For those that got into Mac @ Baruch & requested housing info over the phone, have you received any info in the mail yet?

Thank you so much, miktau (:

It’s alright, I’ve pretty much moved on…

hovering - I’m afraid that wasn’t me I didn’t attend the reception. I may attend the April 1st one though. Anyway much thanks for the info :)

Anyway, for any current members, anyone mind telling me how much you get in a check from them or how does it work? (Grants getting refunded or something because Macaulay paid for the tuition)

@significa

Anything not used by the Bursars office is sent to you via a check for the amount. And if you’re lucky, some scholarships do not get rescinded, so you can get those too! :)

I see, if you don’t mind me asking, how much do you get O_O

Anyone going to the Baruch thing today btw? (For Baruch Scholars/Macaulay Honors)

Personally, my net amount in scholarships is around ~$2, 250 each semester. No much, but definitely helpful. I have friends who net $4, 000 a semester, so mileage may vary.

I was admitted to the city college’s honors program but waitlisted for macaulay.
I am still quite interested in going to city college because of the grant that they gave me. But I am still holding on to the teeeeny bit of hope of coming off of the waiting list and being admitted in MHC

so I have a few questions:
- are my chances of coming off of the waiting list lower because I live out of state (NJ)
- if i paid the deposit for city college before hearing from Macaulay, would i be forfeiting the spot on the waiting list.
- will I eventually hear from Macaulay (accepted or not) or should i just assume if i don’t hear from them that I should pick a different school.

and also, i’m pretty sure that not everyone who wasn’t admitted was automatically placed on the waiting list. I have a friend who applied for the same major at City College in MHC and was not placed on the waiting list.

@wilwrk4education

1 - No, factors such as location will not affect your chance.
2 - No, this will not forfeit your waiting list spot.
3 - Macaulay should inform you, as they inform both accepted and rejected applicants.

To your last point, you are correct. Many students are not accepted at all. And for those who may meet the standards, but room does not permit; they end up on the waiting list.

Can anyone clear up the scoop with respect to housing? Where is it available? Where is it free? :)

You can click on the various schools for dorm info:

miktau or anyone,
Have you heard anything about waitlist chances? Still hoping…

Bump…Any news on the Macaulay wait lists? Anyone out there? Any news at all?

I turned down my macaulay spot @ baruch so hopefully one of you are getting it.

Significa, Thanks for the good thoughts. Good Luck @ Boston and thanks for responding!

I was in the Macaulay-Hunter office on Friday and was told

a) No waitlist action has been taken as of yet
b) They cannot guarantee that it will happen this week and,
c) They know it isn’t fair to anyone

Appreciate the update. Thank you!

email mail yesterday, Good Luck to all who made it
