The Magical ( and somewhat Official) Yale RD Countdown Thread

Ah, I see  I suppose there are worse names ;-)

Has everyone joined the facebook group, then? I’ve added everyone thus far :)

I may not join the Facebook group, but just add everyone instead. The facebook group is so
public. Not to mention, that avatar is freaking me out.

Heh. Used to be a profile picture of mine. I think it’s brilliant.

Billabong is back! Haha I actually kinda like Billabong, it’s a pretty sweet name.
Though I think areyouserioussss should be called Shleenis. That’s a pretty beast nickname.

The group picture is definitely strange, haha
I don’t get it and it’s kinda sketchy.

Oh, I forgot to mention, this thread moves RIDICULOUSLY fast, every time I come back to it there are three new pages of posts
insanity.

Jingle Bells- as always adding my two cents

I TOTALLY agree with Chandlerbing that we should nickname areyouserioussss as “Shleenis”
hehe :D

I can’t join the facebook group because I don’t have a facebook that I use regularly. It seems like this facebook is really popular and people have been telling me to get one but i don’t want to get on another bandwagon like myspace only to have it be yesterdays method of communication like a month later.

Facebook is pretty “today”, it has replaced my phone as my social calendar and the way in which I communicated with friends outside of school

Myspace looks horrible, never even got one of those.

Haha, I’m glad someone agrees with me! Shleenis is a pretty fawesome nickname.

I’m sure this has been asked before, but where exactly on the site can we see our decisions? the site just says, “Please note that online admissions decisions will be released on the evening of Tuesday, March 31st.”

I have had so much fun following this thread
at least I know I’m not the only one being driven insane. :D

ahhahahahahahah roflz roflz 13:17:13:40

:) :frowning:  :frowning:  :frowning:  :frowning:  :frowning:  :frowning:  :frowning:  :frowning:  :frowning:  :(

the thread is too fast for me
just two weeks to the day
and i feel
relaxed

jarsilver, I think the way it works is that we log in as if we were checking our status and then our decision pops up.

The way it worked SCEA was there was a separate part of the site that you logged into. It was painful.

So it’s going to be at 5:00, right?

I don’t want things to be too spaced apart.

I mean, you can’t dig deeper once you’ve hit emotional rock bottom, so let them all happen at once.

Except I’m in the 5:30 region for Brown, so

aaah
pom pom has hit an emotional rock bottom :p

Hey Yale regulars, I got this idea from another thread on here:

I was thinking why don’t we make a parallel thread to the one with stats and decisions where people posted thier decisions, but instead of stats they post one of thier essays. That way there could be that one for the RD results with only stats AND then another one that had the decisions and one of the essays the applicant wrote. That way the applicants for next year could actually read the essays and see how the essays correlated to the adcoms decision.

What do you all think? I mean we would be in college by then so it would not affect us if someone used our essays and also it might really help the future CCer’s.

^ Thoughtful, but essays can be quite personal - not sure many people would be willing to post one. Moreover, it might encourage future applicants to stick to a certain ‘form’/copy subject-matter because they think it might be more “effective”/ be “inhibited”, generally. I think the essay part of the process is pretty straight-forward - it’s all about setting yourself down in writing (and if you haven’t developed the skills required for effective self-expression until now, I don’t think a long thread of essays will help much).

I don’t know. That’s just what I think shrug!

Nice idea but essays can be too personal and I have to add the Yale forum is definitely if not the most active :).
