I think #3 could look nice with a dress short sweater.
I vote for dress #3 although I like all of them. I like the colors in 2 but, somehow, it seems like a lot of fabric (probably just the addition of sleeves where the other two are short/cap). I think #1 is a great dress, very unique but D1 has told me that some people feel strongly one should steer clear of white and ivory as a guest at a wedding. I believe this was discussed on this thread and know of the differing views but I’d rather err on the side of caution as long as one has choices.
I think I just replied to Colorado mom when I meant to reply to the thread…not sure how I correct that so I’m letting it go ![]()
Just for fun, here are Deb’s original links to dresses 2 and 3:
I know the cowl neck on the Maya dress would annoy me. Otoh, that sleeker style might help you feel less annoyed around the very chic ex SIL
.
I think I’m going with dress 3. The cowl is not uncomfortable. I think for dress 1 or 2 to work I would have to try on the regular size as I’m convinced @Hoggirl is correct about the waist being in the wrong size. But I like dress 3 and don’t want to mess with any more dresses.
I found a pair of shoes and put on a blazer to see how it looks if it’s cooler out that night.
I love this look! I think it’s sleek and very flattering!
It’s a nice, sophisticated and tailored look (like my preferences).
I cannot find the post where @HImom linked her Life Stride shoes, but I want to say Thank You!
I just got a pair to wear to my cousin’s daughter’s wedding. They are the perfect height (1.5in heel) for me.
I like the shoes…but I think the blazer might better be replaced with a nice black cashmere wrap @BunsenBurner can tell you where to get one.
The blazer just looks way too casual for me.
Thanks for everyone for your opinions, feedback and encouragement! It’s been very fun.
I’m not really a wrap person. But I might order one and see.
I’m just thinking something other than a blazer is a better choice. A swing sweater or something. You don’t want to look like you are wearing your husband’s sports jacket…
Dress is far too pretty to cover up that much!
How about a shrug instead of a blazer? Something like:
Or
If you want to have some fun:
I love #3! Glad you are going with it. I love how it fits you and I love the colors. Very slenderizing! Good job
I have a shrug and a shorter jacket. I’ll play around with the options.
My niece wore an oversized jacket with a midi dress. She looked fabulous. Maybe that look is best on the young. She’s very fashionable.
I think shrugs are a bit matronly looking and wouldn’t go with this youthful trendy dress.
Lol, I think I own that jacket! I’ll have to look in my closet.
The zippers make that jacket look a little casual to me but I could be wrong as I am very far from chic or any kind of fashion expert ! The blazer seems too heavy to pair with that dress if you are going for a “chic” look. Glad you found a dress you like!
I still think a wrap would be best…but I don’t think that shrug looks at all matronly. If you have one…try it on with the dress…and send us a picture! And the shorter jacket too. I agree the zippers don’t work.
It’s from Express
