The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

Glad you found a good solution! Those dresses are great.

Both great dresses! You inspired me to look for something special for rehearsal dinner (11/10) rather than just picking out something from my closet. I chose this:

Very nice!

That’s a classy and striking dress!

Am I the only one who gets excited to see there are new posts in this thread?? All the joys of shopping with girlfriends-- from the comfort of home!

Well, S and fiancee are switching from rehearsal dinner to rehearsal lunch, since the rehearsal is 10-11am. It makes sense but am glad we weren’t planning to make a big deal. Things seem quite fluid. Haha! We are remaining flexible.

What is the date of your son’s wedding? IIRC, it’s coming up fairly soon?

You are not! I love this thread! Even though ds doesn’t even have a girlfriend! Lolol

I enjoy this thread and have fun browsing dresses online. The likelihood of ever becoming MOG grows less with each year. At least I got to be Aunt of Groom this year! (And wore an old dress from the closet.)

Me too…but I love reading about the dresses folks are looking at.

S’s wedding is Sat—just 9 days away. Haha! Staying calm.

So glad you found something! It’s nice to have something new for such a special event.

Here’s the perfect example of what not to wear and how to act at a wedding. :astonished:

Gosh that’s gutsy for that family to put the real photo (with faces) and comment online.

I think it’s odd for a guest to insist on wearing white and be in photo on other side of groom. I’m sure there’s a lot more going on with this guest and wedding.

At S’s wedding, no one else wore solid white or similar other than the bride, so it’s wasn’t an issue for her. I’ve never been to a wedding where a guest wore an outfit bride objected to but insisted on being on other side of groom in photos—just very very odd.

At my niece’s recent wedding, her maternal grandmother wore a dress that was very light. In the light of the venue, it certainly looked white.

Maybe it was very light pink or maybe ivory. I’m not sure.

No one made any comments and she certainly wasn’t trying to upstage the bride. Since she’s in her 80’s, I suspect it was an issue of finding a dress.

I know my mil struggled. In the end, she wore the same dress she wore to my son’s wedding 6 years ago. I suspect I’m the only one who noticed. It was black, also a no no. But finding a dress is difficult for someone who has limited shopping options and finds shopping on line very difficult.

I brought my MOB dress to be hemmed yesterday. Pick it up on Saturday!

I also bought my dress. It’s getting tailored right now.

I think I might have found my MOG dress. Got it at Dillard’s for $288 (which I think was a great price to begin with). Von Maur has it as a final sale for $68! I ordered it to keep and if I find something better, then do be it. I’ll sell it or just keep it, will decide later. I wanted to cover my arms a bit. It’s lightweight with just a touch of bling.
