Because when people are admitted to summer but apply for fall, it’s usually because they weren’t “qualified” for fall yet and the university believes they’d be good but want to start them in summer. And sometimes they even run out of room, which is why spring 2012 happened, my friend had the same thing happen to him.
I applied for summer and got in for summer as well. And yes summer is a step up from spring (:

I was accepted for spring…I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do. My parents said my options are going to santa fe (which will be difficult considering that I’m going to have to live in an apartment and not have a meal plan BUT on a positive note classes will be a lot easier) or stay at home for the semester, go to a local college here, and work until spring.

SO, so surprised that I got in but I am eternally grateful. UF was one of my 1st choice schools.

For those of you accepted for spring, I have no idea what the stats are but they definitely do move some people to earlier admission dates. A friend of ours last year was admitted for spring and then moved to summer - but it happened very late in the game. By that time he had decided on another school.

feels amazing to be accepted! being in the BOTTOM half of my class rank, i was honestly really scared id be rejected since i heard that UF only takes the top 10% and goes from there with a few exceptions. i guess its important to differentiate yourself - they’re looking for diversity. i think i really sold myself as someone who would meaningfully add to the campus community. congrats to everyone who got accepted! to those who didn’t, everything will work out. just remember to make the effort haha

Essay (be honest):I feel it was well written. About my transition from living in Bangladesh to living in Florida would help the UF community, and how very diverse my life was owing to the fact that I have seen so many things. Also, I had just moved to US during the second semester of my Junior year, and I think taking AP lit as a foreign student had a big part in admission

General comments (how you feel, any advice for future applicants, etc): Spend time on the application. I believe my SAT scores, and ACT scores were decent enough, but not enough to cover for my lack of extra curriculars. What did make the difference, I believe, is my senior courses, and obviously an amazing essay. You can still get in with a decent SAT/ACT score and not a lot of extra curriculars, but be sure to work on your essay for a long time. Go Gators!!!

One of my friends last year, He got into UF last year in the spring semester. But then he contacted them and did a lot of stuff, but in the end he did get into Fall semester. You have to ask them, and it is only as a space-availability basis method, which is not quite hard to imagine since a lot of people who apply to UF go away to Ivy leagues. So spaces open up, keep trying and she’ll get in. Go Gators!!!

anyone know the OOS acceptance rate?

I’m pretty sure they don’t publish that information.

Thanks Mir1993, I hope my daughter gets in earlier. To the rest of you congrats!!! Here are the stats that came to me from the admissions office…

"We offered admission to 12,000 students with the intent that only 6,400 would enroll — our freshman class is strictly limited to only 6,400 students because of space limitations and budget constraints.

This year’s applicant pool was filled with extremely qualified students and over achievers. Students were actually considered for every possible term before a decision was rendered. As we had so many extremely qualified applicants to consider, we offered 900 students admission to Spring 2011 rather than have to deny their application."

We also have a friend that was accepted for Summer A, which starts two days after her highschool graduation, yikes!!! I guess go when they tell you to go if you really want to go to UF.

BLineA4: It’s the same with me! I just see my application materials… It’s been a week now!!

It just says this:
"The Office of Admissions has completed a preliminary review of your application for admission.

Please look at the tables below to determine whether your application file is complete. Missing materials can delay your admission notification. If you have recently sent these materials, please allow processing time, especially around application deadlines; materials sent by regular mail take a minimum of two-to-three weeks’ processing time. Check your application status as often as you need to verify receipt of materials."

I DO check my application status VERY often, Florida!!
And now it even says “Welcome new Gators - congratulations to our new freshmen.” on the admission page - like they’re done or something! Ooh, I’m so scaaared :(
