xx, try not to discuss the problem itself (48 hr rule).

And agreed w/ pretty much everyone. I knew those problems were awkward because I don’t remember doing anything like those in previous years’ practice mechanics tests. If they’re trying to re-write the whole method of question-writing, its not working lol. Oh, and the last half of # 2 felt like a lazy add-on to lengthen the question.

And lol at some people, a 4 is a good score on a test like this. Seriously.
I hope I pull it off in both.

In response to #2, I think most people had trouble with it. I guess what I find most interesting about it is what it asked for in part A. Then the ideas behind part B for incorporating part A. I think the part C/D things are just bad. Of course I’m not good at them either so I bias myself. Did anyone think it was rather weird writing that ______ of _____ on FRQ #3?

they were definitely banking on the test takers to do well on the mc i thought. the mc wasn’t too bad but i missed some easy problems there… sigh…

I suppose you could say that they were banking for test takers to do well on multiple choice. The problem is that the curve will be SEVERELY cut due to FRQ #2 and FRQ #3. (Mostly due to FRQ #2 but I found people in my class having trouble with FRQ #3 too.) I look forward to our after-school session Wednesday where we’ll discuss the FRQs. I was kind of hoping for something like the FRQ #1 from 2008. Solving that differential equation was sweet. Still…calculus out the wazoo.

I was amazed how the EM was actually easier than Mechanics. I think I got most of the EM free response because they were pretty straightforward and similar to class practice problems, but Mechanics was just…??? Multiple choice was about same for both.

You know, we’re allowed to report if we thought a question was ambiguous or incorrect. If enough of us do that…I mean, we can’t be the only ones to be confused by #2, and I don’t know if they realize how confusing it was.

I’m actually thinking of doing that, because the question was RIDICULOUSLY VAGUE/weird? imo. I thought the test was some-what of a breeze, but #2 was like UBERPWN :(

I doubt they know how confusing the question was, and I suggest everyone on this board start calling the collegeboard’s AP service and explain the situation. The more that call, the more credibility our complaint gains. Idk, I hope i’m not taking this too seriously…

I made my way through the E&M MC so that’s a start. I wouldn’t say it was easy per se, but definitely not as much of a disaster as I anticipated.

I’m pretty sure what I did for 2a was a joke, but I ended up with a reasonable answer for 2b. Don’t know how LOL :)

@nickwasy & user3725 - I’m in on calling Collegeboard. Does anyone have the #? We should coordinate what we’re saying too

I guess it’s not so much that it was ambiguous or incorrect, but just strange. It was clear what they wanted in the first question and (I thought) clear what they were hoping for in the 2nd part. I didn’t solve the 2nd part to figure out the third or the fourth. I really didn’t even pay attention to the 4th part.

@user3725: Just think of this year’s FRQ #2 equivalent to last year’s FRQ #1. They probably expected very FEW people to get it all the way through if any at all. I was actually a bit disappointed at the lack of freebie points. Like plotting points or doing a free body diagram.

The problem with Mech FRQ # 2 wasn’t the wording or its confusing-ness, it was the issue with how well the test-takers can figure out what to do with it…and even if you do figure it out, the math is too crazy.

Lol, ok you guys call up. Make sure you post what they say.
Yea, I was disappointed with no freebie points aswell. There was not one straightforward part to any FRQ.
I don’t like the fact that they chose 2009 to rewrite the questions. x_x

Yea I just thought E/M was hard since we haven’t really finished E/M in my class (since it is not AP oriented). Oh well, I don’t even know why I took the exam. I prob won’t report to colleges, if I get lower than a 3, which I might.

Yeah, I knew what I was supposed to do on #2, I just didn’t remember how to do it. I did, however, remember the answer, so I just wrote that down lol.

You guys are so lucky. I wish I could stress over Mech and E+M with you guys. I was completely unprepared for the B test, and now I am even more anxious to take the C test in a week or so.

dude your not supposed to discuss the frq for 2 days, edit your post.

I thought the tests were great, I skipped 2 and on FRQ a little difficult but i answered them all and maybe skipped 2-3 points. for mechanics that is, E&M I think MC was quite easy FRQ, not the easiest.

I hope I get a 5. I think that the tests were fair, I wish that the mechanics FRQ weren’t that hard but I think I did pretty well.

All I am going to say about FRQ #2 is the last part ****ed me off for mechanics.

yeah you are not allowed to discuss FRQ for two days. the proctors said it. You guys shouldn’t discuss anything besides that you felt it was hard or whatever.

Who the heck set that prom date? That is soooo wrong - hope your school made note of the bad date for future years! Congrats to you if you managed to keep your eyes open throughout the exam!
