Oh yeah, misunderstood.

Thanks.

Update on flooding: UCLA expects full payment for repairs from LA DWP (dept of water and power) and are tallying every expenditure. Since the pipe is not on UCLA property and is not owned by UCLA, I think it’s pretty much a slam dunk.

@lindyk8

Good. But what I wonder is if the damages incurred to the property of UCLA students will be covered; many of these students’ cars are still trapped in the parking structures and the water there may have caused damage too the vehicles.

I guess those students can try to take LA DWP to court if they don’t receive restitution from them.

Don’t worry it will cover everything. What I think will happen is since it happened on UCLA property, UCLA insurance will cover it, just the way it will quickly repair (at least temporarily) Pauley, etc. But then the campus will expect full reimbursement from DWP. It will take into acct the cars.

I guess this is karma’s way of getting back at DWP for being so rude to so many customers.

Fighting UCLA will be a losing battle.

Do you guys know if there is a list of all upper division electives? Any recommendations? Thankss

Anything not in your major is an elective. Look at courses numbered 100 and above for upper division.

@goodjobdaveman If you google you can find couple of links pointing towards interesting ge classes such as scand 50w, arts and architecture 10, and etc. I’m not sure if I can take anymore ge classes, but if I can I would like to take one in a film production class.

Make sure you’re taking classes 100-199 level. Below 100 is lower division, and most if us don’t need more lower division units, unless it’s a major requirement.

Thanks for the information guys! Haven’t really found an elective that has got me interested. Will probably look for an easy one. Do you guys think theres a list of “easy” electives out there?

Well we were at UCLA today. Except for road blockages all over sunset it looked pretty normal, although we were not by PP.

I know there are elective requirements that we must satisfy to graduate from UCLA, but I’m somewhat confused about them…

Let’s say that I’ve completed all of the necessary courses for my major. Let’s also say that I’d like to take even more classes in my field of study. Would this be allowed? Or will they not be considered electives and therefore cannot be used to satisfy the elective requirement?

I really love my field of study, and it would hurt me to have to stop taking classes in the subject once I’m done with the major requirements. :’(

@lindyk8

Running errands at UCLA? Or did you want to see the damage caused by the flooding? Both? :D

deleted post

I did a search for upper division electives that people recommend end and they are either full or aren’t offered. I guess I’ll stick to my original plan of taking upper division math, because at this point I think I’m going to switch majors lol.

I don’t see the point of paying tuition to take bulls*** that doesn’t apply to anything. The only thing I would like would be maybe a life skills class or something, but that isn’t offered.

@Cayton
Speaking for my major, there is no specific elective requirement. It’s just as you said anything beyond the courses necessary to complete your major are considered electives. To my understanding there is no requirement that you take specific courses outside of your major. I think as long as you’ve completed IGETC you’re good.

It’s funny you mention taking as many courses in your field as you can, because literally about 15 minutes ago I was just thinking the same thing. I feel like I’m over taking classes just to meet random requirements, and I really want to get more in-depth into my nature. As much as possible.

@CSB111 Wow! It is funny when you think about your situation. I bet a lot of people are trying to switch into Business economics, but you are one of the few that have it, but is running away from it. Ironic!

@2016Candles

Ah, OK. I just thought UCLA required all majors to take some classes outside of their field of study. Thanks for clearing that up!

And UCLA has a great sociology program, so they probably have really interesting classes in the subject. I’m sure you’ll love them.

@CollegeDropout1

Yeah lol. But it’s kind of a worthless major. I don’t want to be an accountant (mediocre pay, crap hours, limited advancement or challenge), and normal econ classes are pretty pointless. I thought about loading it up with a bunch of minors but that seems like a waste.

I think Id be better off doing Applied Math or Math of Comp, if I do well in that I can do anything I could’ve with Econ and more.

I mean I feel kind of dumb letting go of some super impacted major, but it doesn’t even matter.
