Hey guys !
I am wondering if housing trick on Ursa is working for 100%.
If I have a good message on that, I will probably get in?Or
If I have a bad sign on that, I will probably not get in??

Can housing thing be updated again in future? or was it already finished to be updated by ucla ?

“Listed below are the lower division preparation courses for the major. THIS
MAJOR IS HIGHLY SELECTIVE. ALL preparatory courses should be completed by the
spring term just prior to transfer. All courses must be taken for a letter
grade. The calculus course requirements should be met as early as possible.”

Hmm, it doesn’t sound too encouraging. You’re still doing Calc II right now in the spring. If you got a good grade in your Calc I class, that may encourage UCLA to take a chance and admit you on the belief that you’ll do well in your Calc II class.

I don’t really have a definitive answer for you in regards to whether doing Calc II in spring will hurt your chances. I want to say that it won’t, but I’m only about 70% certain of that. I’d rather be at least 90%. Oh well. You’ll just have to wait. :(

Nice. Over here, it’s about $20 for a mid-shelf strain I believe and $30 for the really good stuff.

It sucks that your shop closed down. I think the federal government will decriminalize weed in the next 5-10 years as public support for marijuana legalization increases. I know that the justice department has promised to leave Colorado and Washington alone and not go after weed smokers in those states. California will definitely legalize weed by 2016 as public support for legalization here is very high. I can’t wait!

No, it’s not. I think it only applies to the most impacted majors and even then, they’ll probably just tell you to earn good grades in those last pre-reqs.

I’ve seen a few people get in to Berkeley in various majors with some missing pre-reqs. Since music is not competitive at all at Berkeley, I think you’ll get in, especially since Berkeley doesn’t even have specific required pre-reqs for applicants to take. I remember you saying that you have a 4.0. In that case, you’ll definitely get in.

None of the UCs mind if you still have classes in your last semester that you have to take to be IGETC-certified. I’m taking an art history class right now and it’s the only class I’m taking this semester that I need for IGETC and I’ve been accepted to a couple of UCs already. I don’t think Berkeley will care as long as you complete your last general education classes by the end of Spring.

@purplewedding
lol. i’m sure we WILL get in UCLA if we combine our app. I don’t have any work experience only some volunteering… Good luck with Rhetoric tho!

I am worried i am a com major and my gap is 3.81 but i have had a 4.0 ever semester except my first. I am also the captain of my swim team for 2 years in a row not but i know comm is super difficult to get into

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I don’t know how you have learned so much about the application process. If your career plans don’t work out, it seems like you could always be a transfer counselor as a backup plan.

:( So nervous. Applied as a chemistry major because I was missing some pre reqs for chemical engineering. Figured it’s better to be in the school than not at all haha. I just got my acceptance to UCI chemical engineering though!

This person majored in economics(Similar to your major) and was admitted several years ago. Even then, economics was a highly impacted major at UCLA. He had a 4.0 GPA but he still had some pre-reqs in progress in his spring semester. It’s possible that you’ll be admitted like he was and that you’ll have a contract telling you to do well in your Calc class. Don’t lose hope!

I’ve done a lot of reading on old topics in this forum and have talked to my TAP program counselors about these things so I know a thing or two about this stuff.

And yeah, haha, I guess I could be a counselor, but I think I’d need a degree for that and some experience somewhere(other than here, of course :P). I just hope I’m right and you get in to Berkeley. I’m confident that you’ll get in.

Yes, but I think it can still serve as evidence that completing a pre-req or two in spring won’t result in your rejection.

I guess it’ll be prudent to just wait until tomorrow or Saturday or whenever decisions are released. I swear that if I see that you get accepted, I’ll send you a PM saying “Told you you’d get in.” :D

Music is in the Arts and Humanities Division at Berkeley, which has a high acceptance rate. I hope that is comforting.

I’m sure you need a B.A., but I doubt you need one specifically in “counseling”. Does that even exist? lol idk. But I’m sure you have other career paths on your mind anyhow. What do you want to be?

Thanks for the encouragement. I’m pretty confident but there’s still that twinge of doubt. Plus I don’t want to get overly confident, and then be let down if I get rejected. Well I’ll still be let down, but I wouldn’t mind going to UCSD too much either. I would tell you I’m confident you will get into UCLA, but that’s a given that you will be accepted. If you aren’t for some crazy reason, I will spend my summer staging a protest outside of the admissions office.

@GreatestThe Haha definitely. I can’t believe I had to go through this once in high school, and now again. So stressful! What I hate most is that USC won’t even come out till late MAY. You’d think they’d release their decisions around the UC’s but no. They’re lame like that.

haha, a protest on my behalf would be greatly appreciated. Even though I’m confident I’ll get accepted, anything can happen. ANYTHING. I guess it’d be wise of us both to be moderately confident but not too confident that we’ll get accepted.

Although I must say that being invited to apply for a Regent’s scholarship seems promising even if it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re admitted.

And yeah, believe it or not, counseling degrees exist. Not sure if I’d need one to be a counselor but I bet it’d help. EDIT: I have no idea what I want to be. I’ll figure that out soon enough, though. :)

I just hope with all of the chancing on this forum that I’ve done recently that I don’t unnecessarily get so many people’s hopes up only for many of them to be let down. To be honest, I only say that someone will probably be accepted at Berkeley and/or UCLA(The only two UCs whose admission standards I’m familiar with) if I genuinely believe it. I hope my instincts are right for their sake and for mine.
