[ *] Other Factors/questions: I was already deferred. But what do you guys think.

Does anyone know if your chances are affected by when you apply? Is is rolling?

[ *] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): civil engineering
[ *] SAT: 630R 680M 750W
[ *] SAT IIs (if sent):
[ *] ACT: - 32 math, 33 reading, 30 science, 32 english, (writing: 9)

[ *] Rank: top 5%
[ *] Other stats:
[ *] Subjective (ECs, special circumstances, etc): three sports, team captain; long term out of school sports, some volunteering, quite a few clubs in school, work experience, taking classes at community college

[ *] Location/Person: new jersey
[ *] State or Country: US
[ *] School Type: public
[ *] Ethnicity: White
[ *] Gender: female
[ *] major strength/weakness: lots of AP/honors courses
[ *] Other Factors/questions: how highly do they weigh the essay, and do they still have rolling admissions? I’ve heard mixed answers about that

[ ] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): Engineering
[ *] SAT: Didn’t take
[ *] SAT IIs (if sent): Didn’t take
[ *] ACT: 31 comp. (35 english 30 math 30 reading 27 science; this was my 4th try after getting 26, 25, 26.)

[ *) Location/Person: Saint Joseph
[ *] State or Country: Michigan
[ *] School Type: Private and Catholic
[ *] Ethnicity: White
[ *] Gender: Male
[ *] major strength/weakness: took the ACT 4 times.
[ ] Other Factors/questions: I got deferred from UfoM College of Engineering which means it is tougher to get into. At Tech Day (October 2011) they released last’s years kids credentials (Middle 50% was 31 ACT and 3.9 gpa).

My friend got accepted with a 33 ACT and 4.0 gpa (duh) but my other friend was deferred with a 3.9 gpa and a 32 ACT. That really scares me.

So, what are my chances? Thanks in advance for your time!

@ahrimx I got in with a 2120 (1400) , 3.83, and I’m Asian and out of state (the average SAT and GPA for engineering are 1410 and 3.9 respectively). Your extra-curriculars are incredibly weak though – that coupled with your “alright” teacher recommendations may break you.

[ *] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): LSA
[ *] SAT: 2100ish (dont remember breakdown, but 700ish in each)
[ *] SAT IIs (if sent): 790 US, 800 Math II
[ *] ACT: NA
[ *] UM unweighted GPA: 3.96
[ *] Rank: NA
[ *] Other stats: 5 5’s and 2 4’s… But the common app only had room for 5 APs so they only saw the 5 5’s.
[ *] Subjective (ECs, special circumstances, etc): My extra curriculars are strong. I have a place as a walk on if I go to UMich, but im not sure the coach is helping me with admin
[ *] Essays: My community one was different – it talked about how I fit in when I lived in south america when I was younger, and how living in south america was a reminder of my own hispanic roots.
I think my Umich was pretty strong – I really want to go!
[ *] Teacher Recs: One Awesome. The other was hopefully awesome? I didn’t see either.
[ *] Counselor Rec: Probably nice, but generic. One counselor writes like 150+ letters
[ *] Hook (legacy, recruited athlete, etc.): Will walk on, but I dont think the coach is talking to admin
[ *) Location/Person:
[ *] State or Country: AZ
[ *] School Type: Great public school, that is ranked nationally.
