<p>Basically the path is this:</p>
<p>undergrad (4 years) —> med school (4 years) —> residency (3-7 years, depending on the specialty) —> fellowship (optional, 1-2 years)</p>
<p>I agree with brown—you have the rest of your life to be doctor; you only have 4 years to be an undergrad. Enjoy it while you can.</p>
<p>(D1’s comments now that’s she’s done with the classroom part of med school and is doing her clinical training: “Working in a hospital used to be cool and fun. But it’s a whole lot less fun when you’re there every day and spending 80 hours/week there.”)</p>
