Milk delivery used to be so commonplace. Why did we ever get rid of such a great convenience? I guess it has to do with so many more people working that no one would be there to bring the milk in.

On Oahu, milk is often around $6/gallon & haven’t read/heard of home delivery of it for many years. Organic is of course higher. There are occasional “sales” and in-store brands. Groceries here are the most expensive I’ve seen – more than SF, LA, London. Outer island prices are higher.

In my part of AL, the the cheapest I’ve seen is $2.89 per gallon, though most stores charge between $3.39 and $4.29 per gallon. At my home in WA, milk is often $1.99 or $2.50 per gallon. I normally drink half a gallon of milk a day, but haven’t bought milk in a couple of months. When I eat a dining hall, I’ll drink a quart of milk instead of the other drinks they offer. Annoyingly, chances are 50/50 that the milk machine is empty and I have to ask an employee to refill it.

Store bought milk started becoming more common and was cheaper, so milk delivery became obsolete.

The price of milk has been going up for at least the last five years (there was a big price spike a couple years ago). Cows have become more revered for their milk compared to their meat these days.

When we live in town we used to have milk delivered. It was more expensive per gallon then it was in the store, but I still saved money cause I wasn’t “picking up” a bunch of stuff I didn’t really need!

Price of milk in DFW area for past 6 weeks is 99 cents / gallon!( walmart , kroger )

Really! I wonder why. We love Braums milk - that is one of the things my son said he will really miss now that he has moved to the East coast. When we go visit we will have to fill a coolbox with ice and take him some Braums milk.

Aldi started / expanded their stores in the DFW area & they started price war with 99 cents. Naturally Walmart jumped in & others followed. Nowadays we drink more fat free milk shakes& smoothies instead of sodas !!
