Coincidentally, today is THE DAY that I will unplug our landline phone. (Technically service goes a few more days, but we’re headed on vacation… don’t want my father, the main caller other than scammers and political campaigns, to leave messages on it). It’s an old fashioned, hard wired line (not VOIP) - may be the last one in the neighborhood. Costs, even w/o long distance has crept back up to $60/month. In the end, I decided to just let it die and not port the 33 year old phone number to VOIP.
