Would you wear an ugly Christmas sweater out in public, to a casual Christmas party, or only to an ugly sweater party?
Ugly sweater only to ugly sweater types of events. For a casual party…I think I’d leave the ugly sweater at home.
Having said that, I have some different degrees of “ugly sweater” from a hideous gaudy Christmas sweater, down to a cute T shirt with a reindeer with sequins, I might…might wear the T to a casual party, but NOT the gaudy Christmas sweater.
D2 and I seriously regret giving away my mother’s “ugiest poncho ever.”
I do not own, nor have I ever owned, a Christmas sweater, ugly or not. Nor has anyone in my family, to my knowledge. Are we weird?
I got rid of all my ugly Christmas sweaters shortly before it became a fad to to wear them! Figures.
I own two ugly sweaters. Am I weird? Guess I’ll save them for the next ugly sweater party.
DH’s favorite aunt loved ugly sweaters and sweatshirts. We call them Aunt J wear and would never want that look. We don’t get the humor, I guess.
I think when you are a “woman of a certain age” you no longer coming come off as ironic. 20 yea old college student= ironic. Mom in her 50s/60s, not so much. But don’t let that stop you! Life is too short to not have a little goofy fun.
For the middle aged and up ladies… Sure… paired with an old pair of grandma pants… not cool. But if the rest of the outfit is chic and modern (e.g., leather or slim black ponte pants tucked into tall boots), and the wearer is well-groomed, an ugly sweater would have that ironic look.
Never!
I’m tough on certain things and can’t find the humor in it. You don’t want to try getting me to a comedy club with you. (But I’m highly amused by gift swaps.)
Gift swaps don’t amuse me much. A bunch of useless junk that will wind up in landfills. Bah humbug.
Lol. Maybe someone will give you an ugly sweater. Last swap (3:years ago, not like I go looking for them,) I got a Lenox bowl which D2 asked for. Done.
This is a little digression…but I worked in a primary school. I had enough “holiday” sweaters to be able to wear a different one to school each day from Thanksgiving to the holiday vacation.
The last year I was there, I wore my sweaters, and at the end of each day, I bequeathed a sweater to one of my coworkers. I mean really…what was I going to do with well over 20 of these treasures?
Well…the following year, the faculty had a “holiday sweater day” and a picture was taken of the whole staff together. Someone forward the pic to me with the comment “I think most of these used to be yours”…which was true.
Carry on!
Anybody have recommendations for a pepper grinder/mill that works well and is actually durable?
@doschicos Go for the classic: any plain wooden midsized mill by Peugeot. Works beautifully, lasts forever. I think I’ve had mine for over 30 years, and cheaper ones people have given me have bit the dust long since. Mine gets a LOT of use. Along the lines of this:
Mine apparently predates the bottom grind selection feature located on the bottom, and is like this one:
Thanks, @Consolation. That was exactly the way I was leaning based on my research so great to hear your endorsement!
Anyone have a suggestion(s) for an electric carving knife, not too expensive, not too cheap?
Does anyone have any experience with Manuka honey? Are there any truly scientific studies documenting its efficacy, and if so, for what?
It is very tasty and is reasonably priced when on sale at Costco, but our experiment with N=2 did not yield any statistically significant findings regarding its health effects.
Thanks, @BunsenBurner. Is costco’s “certified New Zealand raw UMF 10+ or whatever its supposed to have??
@Jugulator20 - just get a cordless knife.
