Do you have a Nordstrom near you? They have many jeans at various price points so it would be a good place to try them on in person.

Any idea what this costume is? Looks like the nearby elementary school is having a party and the parents are parked in front of our house. They put the costumes over their clothes.

Looks sort of like aloha shirts and basketball shorts—Fluffy the comedian? Gabriel Iglesias.

Son suggests generic tacky tourist costume, and I found similar online. Wondering how embarrassed the daughter is…

All I can think of is Harry Krishna followers?

I like Fluffy better. He’s very funny and seems like a very nice person as well.

No idea what character they are dressed like, but those look like jumpsuits (shorts and tops sewn together - follow the creases on the back of the female).

Fluffy has performed worldwide, including 2 sold out performances at Dodger Stadium! He always wears shorts at Aloha shirts and is quite heavy, hence his term “fluffy.”

I’ll add Fluffy to the list of famous entertainers I’ve never heard of.

Yes, jumpsuits. I can’t find that exact one but something like this.

Artificial Christmas trees - I have never had one, but we are thinking of getting one this year. We will be gone for 2 weeks of the holiday season, so cutting one down like we normally do doesn’t make sense. I want one that looks as real as possible, and it’s too hard to set up. I’m aware of Balsam Hill. Are there others I should consider? Any advice/things I should consider?
Full disclosure - I may wind up just getting a very small fake tree, and getting a bigger one hopefully on clearance after Christmas, or I may get none at all, but I’m considering one for the first time.

I got mine from Sam’s Club a few years ago and really like it. I looked a quite a few before getting it. Look for height, width (some are slim style), number of tips, the number of lights, whether it is just white lights or has multi-color lights also (my favorite). Ours comes in three sections and is very easy to put together. It has a good number of plastic tips which give a fuller look.

We got ours at Michael’s after xmas two years ago. It’s a no name brand but is super easy set up (only two pieces) and pre-lit. I also like it because it has pinecones and a couple of different kind of needles.

I was always a real tree person, but now that it’s only me in a condo, the hauling and disposing was a lot.
Two years ago I splurged on a slim model Balsam Hill prelit with a remote that can do white, colored, or a mix of lights. Three sections, with stand and bag. Grandson really enjoyed changing the lights.
Now, I can set up whenever I feel the urge, and I don’t have to get it down in time for the tree collection date.
It was a good decision. I did buy some pine scent sticks to hang on the tree for ambiance.

A few years ago we got rid of our 25 year old artificial tree (and found a taker for it on Buy Nothing… yay). Replaced it with an easy to assemble pre-lit tree. Love not having to mess with the lights. My husband assembles it quickly. Then I do have to spend some time fluffing the branches since they get crushed in the box.

The one we currently have is a 4’ one S bought for $25 after the holidays at CVS in a clearance markdown. Before that we had 6’ fuller ones we had purchased from Macy’s on sale. My sister bought one from Costco. All are pre-lit and assemble in 2-3 pieces and come with stands.

Our neighbor has one that folds flat and hangs from the ceiling.

We switched to artificial about 25 years ago when we were all ill with a bug during the holiday season but I was able to muster enough health and strength to stumble out of the house to get a tree. We noticed that year we all stayed healthier without a “real” tree since we all have allergies to environmental things like mold, etc.

Many of my sibs have switched to artificial trees for similar reasons but done have both a fresh tree and artificial ones. I believe all bought theirs locally at nearby stores.

I finally gave in (after many years of swearing I would never buy an artificial tree). But I couldn’t help it. $3 at a local resale shop! It actually looks great. We still need to string lights, but then it looks even more realistic. Easy and lightweight, but only divides into (3) sections and does not “fold”, so requires a large storage space.

We still try to buy a very small live tree. What I miss most is the wonderful Balsam fragrance.

Resale shop finds do not help @1214 mom, but if you can wait for next year, and buy one this year after-season, sales should provide a deep discount, and therefore the ability to find a higher quality tree that is more realistic for you.

I love my tree the most because I don’t have to mess with the lights.

If I was getting an artificial tree I think I’d prefer to get one without lights. I like to change up the lights now and then - and as long as I don’t have to pull them off when the tree is dry and the needles are falling off I’m ok with that!

The problem with pre-lit trees is that eventually the lights fail! We got ours 18 years ago and it was great the first several years. Once the lights started to fail, I just added strands on top. But then enough failed that I clipped off the lights. It took many, many, many hours, albeit our tree is ginormous. Then I started stringing lights every year, but again… that tree is so huge that it was a giant PITA. I think it took a good 1:30 to string. Then, I got smart and strung them up so it could be disassembled with them mostly intact. But I’m not going to trash an otherwise good tree because of that.

LOL. After way too many years stringing lights I might just go buy another tree. “Pre-lit” is the best part.
