I’d have to be reallllly eager for that furniture to move because shipping can get dang expensive. Sometimes if sentimental attachment, it can make sense. Otherwise sell it in MI and buy similar in MA.

Could this be a “meet half way” situation? Someone takes the coffee table half way to MA and the MA person meets them? And then have a nice meal or overnight together and call it an exchange AND social event!?

It’s over 700 miles from where it is to where it’s going, getting someone to drive halfway there and back would be a huge ask. Don’t think anyone would do it, and I’m not real keen on doing that drive on my end either.

My MiL just moved into independent living and we are cleaning out her house. So there is some sentimental value involved.

I guess I should call some freight companies and see what it would cost.

We did that with a sofa we wanted to give to my mom (MA to MI) and ended up doing what @Colorado_mom suggested. We sold it and sent her the money toward a new one. Shipping would have cost 3x what we sold the item for.

I used a freight company I found on the internet to move a 4ft long oak desk my father made. It was expensive to move but worth it for sentimental value. It was too big for fed ex/usps/ups to do.

Understood. In some cases “meet half way” might work so I threw it out there!

I would do a quick check of quotes by companies that move small containers/pods that you pack yourself. We have used 2 different ones and a sibling used a third one for 1000+ mile transport.

Check with moving companies. If they have a run and are going that way and have room, you might be able to add yours.

Cheapest price I could find was $2500 (!!!), that piece of furniture is not coming home lol.

Didn’t really have time to search a lot of options, so it is what it is.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Sorry it did not work out. Make sure to take a picture of it before selling (or donating). That can sometimes make it easier to part with sentimental items.

I have the Bean primaloft. I bought it for Iceland in early July. It was perfect as a warm but light layer. Founds down small.

The sizing is not generous, I’d call it slightly fitted. I got a medium size, I’m 5’7”, 150, busty. I got it over a thinner sweatshirt without feeling squashed. I usually wear a medium.

How long would you keep/use caraway seeds?

I was thinking about throwing mine away and getting new for Iris Soda Bread, but this article says properly stored seeds can last 3 or 4 years.

Taste them. How do they taste? Are they flavorful? Is the flavor off?

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have 2 small ziplock bags of caraway seeds, vintage unknown. Just tasted them, seem fine.

Here’s a random question: I just returned from a long trip overseas (SE Asia). Took me several days to adjust to the time difference there, but I did. I’ve been back for just over a week and I am still a bit topsy turvy with sleep/wake cycles and the Daylight savings time change didn’t help!! I heard an old wives tale (I am assuming) that it takes a day for every hour of time difference to readjust. What re folks’ personal experiences?? TIA

I think the yellow = sign in the first E stands for the Human Rights Campaign.

Grandson is turning 3 and he has requested a strawberry cake. In the past I’ve made him healthy no cane sugar cakes but now that he’s turning 3 he’s had real cake and I don’t think a healthy cake will be as well received.
This will just be a small cake for him, my daughter is taking care of dessert for the adults. He isn’t even liking strawberries much right now so I don’t think I can get away with just putting strawberries on top. I’d like if possible to use a Miss Jones vanilla mix and somehow add strawberry flavor. Everything I’ve seen online adds strawberry jello and that won’t fly in his household.
