I’ve done that and it’s still yellow.
It’s the lid to the little container where I put the coffee beans. (This coffee maker grinds the beans, then makes the coffee.)
ETA: This is, I’ll grant you, not the most pressing problem in our world today.

Ahhh… now I understand what you are talking about. Mine is cloudy/yellowed as well, but it doesn’t bother me. It can’t be seen except when I’m adding beans or cleaning the container as there is a cover that hides it. If it were exposed and visible that may be different. I have no idea if it would even be possible to restore it to like new. I doubt it. Good luck!
Plastic is porous… the coffee pigments that cause the stains get embedded in it quite deeply. It is like coffee or tea stains on your teeth; to get them out, one has to bleach the heck out of the enamel. You can try soaking the piece in a solution of Oxyclean for a few hours, but it might not do the trick. I’d get a new lid or live with it.
Does the manufacturer sell replacement parts?
Yes, they do sell replacement parts. The part is $8.50 and the shipping is $8.95. Even if I bite the bullet to pay that shipping, the new part will just yellow like the one I already own.
Oh well. I guess I’ll live with it. Thanks, all.
Anyone have any experience with weighted cooling blankets? I love winter months when the house is 64 at night and I’m under a pile of blankets but we live in a 120+ year old house and in the summer, we are lucky if we can keep our bedroom at 73 with the A/C running. I usually add a fan too and am too hot to sleep with blankets but I need the weight of something on me.
I went down the rabbit hole of reviews but am unsure of what weight to get and if the blankets that say they are cooling, really are. Also not sure if I should get a twin size just for my side of the bed or one that goes over the whole bed as H said he’s agnostic and would do either. And if I do a bigger size, what weight that should be?
Any first hand advice?
Random question- but if this happened to you ,would you go back a second time to get your phone??? Um…
Stranded man airlifted from Mount Fuji — then rescued again days later after he returned to get his phone - CBS News
The guy should have to pay his rescue costs, especially the 2nd time when he returned for his phone! They aren’t trivial expenses.

My rule is that if I won’t wear it, I won’t ask anyone else to do so. Ripped and stained stuff gets recycled (glad there’s that option in my area). I take our donations to a local interfaith clothing center where people referred through social services can ‘shop’ for clothes and household supplies. (All items are free, but they have it set up like a department store.) It’s not too much to include a bit of dignity with a donation.
Squeaky sneaker soles!
What’s your family secret (I’ll take it to the grave) - so far I’ve used a fabric softener sheet (about 25% less squeak), and sand paper (an additional 25 % less squeak)
I was in Walmart today to get a couple of things for my mother that only Walmart had locally. I was surprised to see toothbrushes under lock and key. I am not talking expensive electric toothbrushes, although they were in the locked shelves, but manual toothbrushes, including single generic ones for $2.97! What was even odder to me, the kid’s toothbrushes, including electric were not in the locked area. Am I missing something as to why they would be locked?
Headed down other aisle and found other items locked, but it was hit or miss as to what was locked and what wasn’t. Shampoo and conditioner was locked, but not soap and body wash.
I don’t know if it is just this Walmart due to location, or if all stores are like this. I can see expensive items being locked, but don’t get items under $5. Hard to smell the shampoo when it is locked and you have to find someone to unlock. Are they going to stand there while I make a decision? If due to shoplifting, do more people steal toothbrushes and shampoo, but not soap or vitamins and other medication that is out in the opened?
Color me baffled.
Definitely not all Walmarts. There are very few items under lock & key in our local suburban Walmart.
Saw this pop up on Facebook - I do buy Coldwater Creek sometime. Was thinking about it for my October river cruise - could layer underneaath and if it’s warm, the coats not too heavy I don’t think, Pack-It Jacket - Coldwater Creek
Apparently I have responded to a very old post - so sorry!
No worries, I appreciate the thought!
We have friends who just spent lot repairing an old SUV they like, instead of buying another one. They are considering adding a backup camera. I mentioned that I think there are some pretty cheap ones that use cellphone for display. Wondering if anybody has tried that? Or other under-$100 solution (the wife’s father’s day gift idea)?
I recently got a used SUV with my first backup camera and I can’t imagine it would be easy to see where one is backing up on a small cell phone screen. My husband bought and returned two inexpensive backup cameras with dash mounted screens he bought on Amazon. Neither worked very well.
So I’m in the market for a new bed for DH and me. There’s something lovely at Crate and Barrel for $1,600, and then there’s something I actually like a little better on Wayfair for a whopping $415. Will I be sorry if I buy the one from Wayfair??
ETA: Talking about the bedframe only, not the mattress.
We bought our king bed from Wayfair - we’ve only had it a year and a half but it’s very solid and the materials seem quality - no complaints so far!
Your question reminds me of a furniture buying experience I had several years ago. My son and his GF wanted computer desks for Christmas. They found one (or maybe I found it and they agreed it was what they wanted, I can’t remember). I’m thinking they found it at Macy’s, but it was some fairly expensive store. I found one that looked VERY similar at Walmart. I called the manufacturer, and it was the EXACT SAME piece of furniture, for something like 1/3 the cost. Needless to say I ordered 2 from Walmart and they were happy.
