From what I understand mushroom coffee has less caffeine and more calming benefits. People sometimes drink mushroom beverages before going to bed.
Adding to this, I see many influencers promoting “sleepy time” products like Beam hot chocolate- I’m pretty sure it has calming mushrooms in it
Maybe should put that suggestion on the insomnia threads!!!
Blech. I’m not crazy abut mushrooms – I tolerate them when they’re in a dish – but for me, the point of drinking coffee is caffeine!!
Well I don’t think you really taste the mushroom much besides perhaps a little umami flavor. I drink a cup of coffee each morning but it is not for the caffeine, it’s just for the warm comfort and routine - and while I’ll drink tea coffee is my preferred flavor. I don’t feel I get any benefit (or negative) from the caffeine.
It’s good for people to have options!
Some of these mushrooms are not like a typical mushroom. I wouldn’t drink that “coffee” because who knows what really is in there. Mushrooms have abilities to absorb things from the environment or to host other organisms in them. Just because it is natural, it doesn’t mean it is safe. Remember the vegan crumble that caused severe health problems in people who ate it?
I wasn’t sure where to put this but since it is a random thought brought up by an add for a state college near me for AI and what it can do for you, it made me wonder: Will using AI at an early stage of education, including college, reduce and eliminate critical thinking skills? I always thought you learned critical thinking skills throughout your primary years, honing them in high school and learning to utilize them correctly in college - but the advert for the college purports how much more time you will have as a student to do fun things when you learn to use the AI tools. Just seemed like an odd ad for AI classes.
My friend did 6 laptops for me in Sept so I could recycle. He unscrewed the back, took out a rectangle piece in the back that had a small flat disk and either smashed the disk or scratched it. He kept the magnets as his ‘fee’ as he thinks they are really good magnets. He also kept the power cord for one of the laptops as it was the same as one he had (he has a billion laptops and pieces)
I was happy to get rid of all those laptops.
My H removes magnets & discs too. He’s been working with computers his entire 45 year career.
Where does your friend live? ![]()
Here in Denver. What I learned is you need a very little screw driver, and don’t even try to put the screws back in.
I think I can do it myself now that I know what I’m looking for, although I’m sure the rectangle with the mini CD looking disk is in a different place in every laptop.

Thanks to all who replied, including @BunsenBurner to whom I say: sounds disgusting to me but I don’t think Target would advertise a killer product. Thanks to @HImom for googling which of course I could have done myself. But what fun is that, lol?
The problem with “supplements” and a lot of things that are NOT FDA approved is there’s practically no oversight (contamination happens, higher or lower amounts of things are used, etc.) Even FDA generics have VERY Few inspections and little testing to be sure the generics perform the same as “brand,” which is why people sometimes feel a big difference when they are switched to generic Rx.
I’ve seen Doogie Howser touting Mushroom coffee on TV,so it must be medically as good as Geritol!
Sorry, ran out of gift links. TLDR they don’t work.
