So…are you going to visit Duke during the summer?

Well, I’ll be in China until August, and when I return there’re only 22 (?) days until school starts, so I doubt it. Besides, it’s quite a distance (700 miles) from where I live =/. Are you flying or driving?

Driving. It’s about 9 hours to Durham from where I live, so I doubt I can persuade my parents to let me fly down there. how about you?

It’s 9 hours for you Charles???
you live further south than I do, and it’s only a 4/5 hour drive for me…

Only 4/5 hours?! I live in the extreme northern part of WV, so it takes me that long… :(

Almost definitely plane, unless my parents feel like driving about 18 hours for fun . It was “only” 6 hours from here to Cornell and I thought everyone would lose their minds to boredom and the sight of cows
(and I daresay driving through the hulk that is Virginia will probably feel the same). Also, they have a good friend who lives 30 minutes from Durham, so I will probably leave my belongings there or even stay over during Thanksgiving.

Ha, I went to school in up-up-up-upstate NY but I live in southern MD, it was a twenty-six hour trip by car… But then again, we made a lot of pitstops. Especially in the city.

You probably shouldn’t make my mistake and bring too many things with you. I had to throw a lot of my stuff away at the end of the year cause it wouldn’t all fit in the car :(

Now the only people you four must get are me and anisha08 to apply to Duke…I won’t, but you can still work on anisha.

Why not kman?

I must compare my options first…I am still indecisive as to whether or not I want to live in a hot place (that is, go south; Cleveland is bad enough). In addition, we have far too many people (>13) that want to apply from my school, especially for a selective school. I like the idea of applying to some of the colleges to which I am applying because the college offers what I want and is relatively unheralded here.

lol. my parents dont want me going to an east coast school for undergrad…they say its too far away. they want me to go to a UC.

Hahahaha. I don’t know. I probably won’t apply to Duke, since my parents aren’t really supportive of the idea of me going to the East Coast in the first place. If it’s East Coast, they’re picturing New England & Middle States regions. As for Stanford… that’s only a dream school that I won’t be able to attend. I’m not good enough for those trees.

Well…that just sucks Katherine :(.

:(… Can’t hurt to apply though, since this thread seems to be a feeder to that school :).

Hahaha. That’s so true. I do want to visit Duke though. The campus looks really pretty from what I’ve seen. =)

College visiting is INSANELY fun. Especially when you finish your planned tour with the tour guide and go exploring on your own. :)

It’s the end of junior year, and I have not visited a single college yet. I have only been on four college campuses in my life: UCSB, Santa Clara University, San Jose State University (CSU), and Stanford. How sad.

haha i havent been to very many either:

UCSD, UCSC, UCD, and USF…

I havent been to very many either. Only Duke. Haha.

This thing should be renamed the Blue Devils’ Office of Online Recruitment. I wonder what would be said if everyone of the posters on this thread applied to Duke and were admitted…then what?
